Release 7.0 upgrade
« on: September 28, 2014, 09:30:18 PM »
Hi all:

We are going to upgrade an Mxe 512 MB from 4.0 SP1 to 7.0. My questions in anticipation of this task:

1. Is it a straight through upgrade to 7.0 ? (active SW load is 10.0.1.21)
2. As Im reading the forum, there may be still a bug on this new release. If the upgrade, any way to revert back to 4.0?
3. Do we need a new licence to be on 7.0? Software assurance is current until end of this year.

Please help as we're not clear on RN.

Thanks,

Hi,

No this is not a straight upgrade. You must convert your DB to SDS mode (with 4.0) and then you can go to 7.0.

Yes you can revert back to an oldest release with the SWAP command. Note that you must use Mitel Software Installer if you want to use SWAP. Mitel Software Installer will install the new 7.0 version to a second partition.

As long as software assurance is active, you'll be able to upgrade.

Hope it helps!

Thanks a lot marcolive. This makes thing a little bit clearer. No much worry as this is a stand alone and no cluster.

Just a note of caution...is there not a specific release 4.0 for the MXe that makes going to SDS a much safer upgrade than straight Release 4.0 of MCD.? I think it was produced for MXe specifically.

seems to be that MCD 4.0 SP4 (10.0.4.14) is the recomended release to get SDS.

SP4 was built to support the MXe III. If they already are running an MXe (II) at MCD 4.0 then they should only have to go to GDM mode (I think that is the proper acronym).

Look in the help of the 3300 for the migration directions. There will be a couple of maintenance commands that it will tell you to run as part of the process.

In short, no need to go to SP4 prior to MCD 7.
