Embedded VM Issue
« on: March 04, 2015, 12:55:27 PM »
Normally when a end user presses the VM button on the IP Phone, it takes them to their VM. For some reason, now when pressing the VM button, it prompts me to press # to dial. That has added a another step to get to the VM. I am sure I changed something that did this, but I cannot figure out what it was.

Yeah Call Coverage settings was my first thought as well, just wanted to make sure you were on a release that actually had the feature, which you do. Check that first.

I added the call coverage setting as shown above and made sure they have the same number in the service details. Still have the same issue. Something I noticed though, if they do not have a blinking light indicating a VM and just press the VM button it goes through without asking to press #. If you have a legitimate VM, it asks to press # to dial VM.

That doesn't sound right. I've got a 5340 on my desk talking to an MCD running the same release. Call Coverage is enabled with the VM option pointing to my VM hunt group (I'm using a centralized NuPoint instead of the embedded, so maybe that's the difference but I doubt it). My MWI is off, when I hit the message key I go straight to the VM login prompt.

Is this a problem with every phone or just some of them?

It is all phones. I had them verify several phones. Any that had a blinking light was asked to press # to dial the VM.

The only other thing I can think of is perhaps not all the ports are in the VM hunt group or some of the ports don't have a VM COS assigned to it.

As far as I know that's always how it worked (if you pressed the 'flashing' message key with the handset down)

If you lift up the handset first, then press the 'flashing' message key it will go directly to the mailbox without needing to press #
