We recently switched to mitel and I am hoping I am just doing things incorrectly. Surely this is not the best way to update speed dial buttons.

Currently, when a user requests speed dial button changes, which happen frequently (K-12 school district), I find the user in the MiVB, go to Keys and update them manually. If someone wants to reorder the buttons and move some up top, I have to basically overwrite the rest of the buttons. Same with copying buttons to another phone. Copy keys>Check the boxes of the buttons> Select User Speedcall for each one> type the extensions in manually. Luckily, the display names are filled in at least. Here, we have all administration and office staff on a different model phone. If I have to update the buttons for everyone, I export all devices, extract the extension range for that school, sort by model, put the extensions into a list.

As far as I can tell, the key templates are only applied during bulk upload in the MiCollab and are basically useless once the phone is in the system.

Is this really how you do it? Is there not some template you can download, edit in excel, then upload to a specified range or extension list? Can I edit the template and repush it to those devices in which its applied? This would make sense, but I have not been able to make this work.

SIP On Mitel / Mitel 5360 IP Phone Telnet Password / HTML Application not loading
« Last post by danp on May 07, 2025, 04:18:47 PM »
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knows the telnet password for a Mitel 5360 (SIP Mode)? I've tried some standard combinations. I'm guessing they might be set in factory based on a devices MAC address or something similar? I've reach out to a vendor and Mitel support but haven't had much luck.

I'm hoping to be able to access some logs on the device, as I'm trying to point a phone to a HTML Application developed by HTML Toolkit but it's not accepting the address, I think my application manifest .txt might be invalid so thought some device logs might help me troubleshoot what's going wrong.

Thanks,
Dan

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / license needed for SIP panic button MiVB 9.2
« Last post by Crowtalks on May 07, 2025, 02:05:34 PM »
We are adding 12 SIP viking panic buttons (PB-3-IP) (that will contact an internal ring group) to our MXE III 9.2 system and will be adding additional licenses for those.

We want to add licenses as cost effective as possible, so with the choice of single line, IP user or Multi Device Users, which one would be the best?

I think this method stopped working in the MBG a few releases ago.
If someone can still do this in this way, I'd be curious to know.

It doesn't matter what is serving up DHCP really... If you are using VLAN's you will need two DHCP scopes/servers. Using option 43, you define it as a ASCII text or "Custom Text" option.

In the default data VLAN, you give it an option that essentially does nothing except tell the phone to move to the voice VLAN (VLAN 6 in this case, using an example address of the MiVB server at 192.168.192.10 as call and tftp server, adjust as necessary)

id:ipphone.mitel.com;sw_tftp=192.168.192.10;call_srv=192.168.192.10;vlan=6;l2p=6;dscp=56

Then if you are not using the Mitel itself in the voice VLAN for DHCP, you set the DHCP server for that VLAN to NOT have a VLAN tag.

id:ipphone.mitel.com;sw_tftp=192.168.192.10;call_srv=192.168.192.10;l2p=6;dscp=56

I still say the better way these days is to use LLPD-MED to "move" the phone to the voice VLAN, than only one DHCP scope is required in the voice VLAN.

This also speeds up the boot process and removes a point of failure.

Alright, thanks for the rundown. I'll be trying this out.

Sorry but no intention to hijack this thread. Just that topic is related to my question. But what would be the best way to migrate (replace) MiVB using an old CX controller to EX + AG41XX? I don't know the version of the current system running on the CX but I'm assuming it is old.
My training only started from V10.0 and I'm only familiar with the VA, EX-Controller, and SMBC Controller.
Is it possible to take an backup from the CX system and import that into the new MiVB on EX for a baseline to re-program?

This would be to create an icp in the border gateway that goes to an invalid ip address, then make a rule in the sip trunk to route the caller id value to it. Should also make sure this rule is moved above any default value.

Yeah, same here really, a dwindling number of MiVB customers left, basically only customers who are too indecisive to do anything!
