SIP trunk incoming calls problem with '+' character
« on: December 28, 2015, 04:37:56 AM »
Hi all,
I'm programming SIP trunk for a new customer and trunk provider. Outgoing calls are working fine, but when doing incoming calls the trunk provider is sending the number in the full format including the '+' at the beginning (e.g. To:<sip:+420222333444@telco.com>". I was playing with the "SIP Peer Profile Assignment by Incoming DID", "Trunk Attributes" and "SIP Peer Profile Called Party Inward Dialing Modification" forms but non of these would allow me specify the '+' character to work with. Is there any way to strip off or ignore the '+' character or have any idea how to setup routing in this case?

Many thanks

In trunk attributes use Dial-In Trunks Incoming Digit Modification - Absorb to strip off as many digits as you need (up to 26) and then route on the remainder. Strips from left to right. We normally strip off 8 in the UK to leave 4 digits.

Hi x-man,
thank for your reply. I set the "Dial In Trunks Incoming Digit Modification - Absorb" to 0, the "Incoming DID range" in "SIP Peer Profile Assignment by Incoming DID" I set to "420221511010-420221511019" and in "Inward Dialing Modification" I set the "Digits to Match" to "42022151101x" (Digit Length Operator = equal to, Digit Length = 12, Number of Digits to Absorb = 12 and Digits to be Inserted = 119).

With this configuration, when I dialed +420221511019 from my mobile it rang on the extension 119. So it looks the ICP is ignoring the "+" in the number and I was probably doing something wrong before.
