Mitel Teleworker Phones

I have a new site the has ten 5 Pc's & 5 Mitel Teleworker Phones, with a 10x2 cable modem. and have Choppy audio how can i fix this. What ports or Qos do i need to Configure on Firewall. By the way Im using a DrayTek 2912 router.

Please Help.

Well your first stop is to make sure you have all the recomended ports open on the firewall in the Teleworker docs.

QoS on the network won't affect much unless your route back to the mitel respects all the QoS settings.

What bandwidth have you on the link?

I have a Cable Modem that has 10ms Ping , 10mbps Down , 2mbps Up

and so far i opened up


• allow protocol TCP, destination ports 6801, 68022, 3998 and 6881
• allow protocol UDP, destination port 20001 (and return traffic)

there are a lot more ports than that need opening. Are you running accross a VPN or have you a MBG? If you have a a MBG then dowload the test programmed run that; it will help you for a start. Ports to be opened are available as noted in the documentation.

Umm... these are Teleworker phones, meaning you have a Mitel Border Gateway server?

You should not have to "open" any unusual ports on the far end, the defaults of most firewall/routers work fine. Choppy audio is a not a sign of incorrect port configuration, but of a network issue, most commonly jitter rather than bandwidth.

Get the Teleworker Network Analyzer software off of the MBG, and run it from the remote location, it will identify issues in the ports, bandwidth, and some network issues.
