Newbie question: Can I find a record of who placed a certain call? 911 got dialed and I'd like to figure out from what extension.

It is is set to emergency in ars it should make a log in Maintance and Diagnostic logs on who called.

You can also configure the system to alert an attendant or IP phone when someone makes an Emergency call. It is called Emergency Services Local Notification.

Brantn - there is nothing in the M&D logs.  I just did a test 911 call to our city's dispatch and it doesn't show either... :-(

Lavrai - where do I set that up?

Check your ARS for 911 you should have it set to go down a seperate route tagged Emergency. You will need this for local notification anyways and this should generate the log. As far as local notification to a set you can search for it under the system help and it tells you the steps to program it.

I will also note if it is not past your buffer you can do an SMDR log dump to maybe see who called. Maintenace and Diagnostics LOGSYS READ SMDR ALL.

Not sure I just typically do Logsys Read SMDR All then Ctrl A, Ctrl C, and paste it into notepad for cleanup or searching.

You then should look at List 11 for your route info.
Then on the Route assignment Route A change type to Emergency.

9911 0 List 5

In this case - don't do that.  I'm familiar with this switch.
All your local calls will be emergency calls.

Look at 'route' 11.   Copy it's detail and then program a new route.   10 maybe.
Then change the route type to 'emergency'.
Next go to ARS and program your 8911 and 9911 to point to that route.
Test.
Look at system speed dials to be sure that 911 is programmed to go to 9911 or 8911.
You may also see 911* in there.  That's intentional to block 911 mis-dials - don't remove it.
If it's not there add it and make the actual number anything other than 9911 (try 0).

This won't help with finding the 911 caller, though.
In maint commands enter "logs re smdr new 20000 match 911"
This will show all the outbound calls with 911 in the string.   You may see others such as 5554449911 - that's not your caller.
If logs show no calls at all then check the COS of all phones and trunks to be sure SMDR is enabled for them.
Then check the form "SMDR Options" to be sure things are enabled there.

Ralph. got it.  I will look into this on Sunday.  What is the advantage of a dedicated 911 route?  How do I program a reporting mechanism for it?

Yes I was going to mention that make sure that is the only thing that uses that route as you will get notification on all calls. The advantage is you can remove calling restrictions as well as have emergency notification of these calls. If the route is shared you will get that notification on any call that passes the route.

when creating a route 10, should the COR group # and  the Digit modification # be 10 like 10 or make a new 11 for those too?
 

Then how do I program notifications?  can I have it dial a cell phone number?
