Call quality issue
« on: October 10, 2017, 11:40:56 AM »
Hello everyone,

I have a user who is reporting call quality issues.  They state that persons on the other end of the line are getting a muffled voice.  They have also reported this when leaving messages.  I've replaced the phone thinking that was the problem.  It has come back.  I'm also waiting to hear back from the customer on whether it's the same person that is reporting the problem.  This is a mitel 3300 system, using 5320e ip phones.  All new wiring from the phone to the PRI.

Do they have a cell phone charging near their handset cord?

Did any equipment NOT change... like a headset?

Generally this is a user issue, I had one customer who constantly cradled on their shoulder and the mic was down by their neck and they didn't understand why the call was muffled. Might be worth a site visit to get them to repeat the issue for you.

Not sure I'll check.  Can this cause interference with the call?

I remember having a service call, years ago, client had a PBX installed in their home with a phone on their nightstand- "There are aliens or ghosts making noises over the phone at night"- Turns out that this person had their cell phone charging on the nightstand, right next to their Mitel phone and the speaker would pick up and broadcast "alien" noises.   ;D ;D ;D

Interesting theory, I don't think the charging phone is the cause because I have the exact same setup and I charge two phones adjacent to my desk phone.  I've thought from the beginning that it was user error of some kind.

I can depend on the phone and possibly even the charger. My iPhone won't do it, but if my Nexus gets too close to my handset it will.
