DSS/Busy Lamp
« on: January 05, 2015, 01:07:55 PM »
Hopefully this is an easy fix, and it's something I am missing.  Within our department we have each other displayed on our 5330 IP Phones [DSS/Busy Lamp] so we can tell when a person is on the phone.  For some reason my extension is constantly flashing on the other phones [fast blink].  Not sure why this is happening, nothing has changed and I double checked all settings, and keys.  How do I get their DSS/Busy Lamp indicators to stop flashing?

Are you in DND or Call Forwarded? Those conditions would cause a DSS of your extension to fast blink.

Negative.  I have Cell Twin enabled [for a long time now] so no need to forward, and i never use DND.

In maintenance commanded enter "Loc feat ext <EXT>" to see what it says about the phone.

Ah!  I think we may need to let a little bit of air out of the extension.
Find the air valve and let out about 20 pounds.

It is a interesting little problem.
I'm really just taking a swag but there obviously some feature set up on the line and *maybe* we can reset it.
Try forwarding your phone somewhere on an always condition.  That should light it solid.   Then turn off the forwarding.
Then do the same thing for DND.

If that doesn't do it then I'm not sure even a PBX reset would resolve it since the state is saved.
I'm not even sure you could delete the key since it's 'busy'.

Unfortunately Activating the Call Forward and DND had no effect at all.  While "ON" the DSS/BLF indicators were still steadily flashing on my colleagues phones.

It it a fast flash or slow?

If fast, when I've seen this before and had to completely delete the phone and recreate it.

Wont that show as in use?

That button that is flashing is the DSS/BLF for my extension.  So yes i can delete it buy clear my key on their phones.  But that doesn't resolve the issue.

That's going to stink if i have to recreate my extension.  Is that the only way to resolve the problem?
