inter-tel cs-5200 Password recovery or Factory reset help
« on: July 21, 2014, 06:01:17 PM »
I just got a used inter-tel cs-5200 and I have no clue what the login information is for the web gui. I found the admin guide but it doesn't saying anything about what the default admin password is. If this unit doesn't have a web gui password by default than how to I reset this unit back to factory defaults so that I can log into the web gui.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Web gui is pretty useless... you need db studio to make any changes to the system, the Web gui on the 5000 is just a maintenance and upgrade portal. If you don't know the password to that, then you will have to do a factory default via the front panel menu. Remember this will blow the license key away, so I hope you got a copy of that with the system,  otherwise your kinda out a luck.

I'll admit I am only relatively new to the 5000 but on my Mitel 5000HX demo kit I can default the database through the front panel and it keeps its licensing, IP address and hostname. It does default the username and password

Licensing too? Hmm... I just defaulted on that a customer sold to another customer, pretty sure I had to load a license key again.

EDIT: Nevermind, you might be right... think I upgraded from 5.1 to 6.0 at the same time, which would have required a new license anyway.

We were given some HX controllers.

Defaulted them from the front panel and the license remained on the system.

Its my understanding you can default the database from the front, reset the password and not lose the license.  This is for the 5000 units from 1.0 through 4.0.  Version 5.0 and higher removes the license when defaulting the system from the front panel.

My demo system is Rel 6.0 and it kept its license when defaulting through the panel.

Sarond-

Did you try to reset the password?  I think you will need to reload the license to do so.

michaelNWR,

Alternately, you could just try using the default password, itpassw or it5k, and see if that works; just a suggestion.

Thanks,

TE

Yes I defaulted DB through front panel.
Connected using existing IP address and the password had been defaulted. I logged in and had to change the default password.
As mentioned my system is a Mitel HX not Intertel not sure if there is a difference. We have only had this system in Australia since version 5.1

The two HXs I have done this on are running V5 btw.

Sarond,

So are there any companies looking for a semi-good mitel 5000 engineer that would hire a Yank?

Thanks,

TE
