Recommendations for SIP paging adapters
« on: November 17, 2020, 12:06:07 PM »
I have an application.  Non-Mitel related.
I need to be able to dial into a SIP based device, have it auto answer and then play the audio stream.  It's receive audio only - not talk back.
I need to connect 3 wall mount speakers to the unit that will all play the same audio path.
Preferably, this needs to be POE.

This is for an emergency medical services team.  When a specific type of call comes into a dispatcher, the dispatcher conferences in multiple doctors and specialist. The dispatcher then needs to conference in the speakers so the team can listen in on the call and begin making preparations. The call could last several minutes.

Does anyone have any specific product recommendations?

Ralph

SNOM PA1 does this and is pretty inexpensive. We've used it with several platforms. No complaints.

Algo has an 8301 we've also deployed and it's got more frills.

Viking and Valcom have stuff too but haven't had as much experience.

Thanks, NEPhoneGuy,
The SNOM 1 looks like it requires an external amplifier.   Does it?

It has a built in 4 watt amplifier and then we typically used powered horns.

Ralph,

We use the Algo 8301 for that scenario.

https://www.algosolutions.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Paging-Adapter-Amplifier-Integration-Guide.pdf

We have also used the Valcom IP Paging solutions as well.

https://www.valcom.com/products/ip_solutions/ip_applications.htm

Then there is also the old trusted Viking Electronics Line that is always the fallback choice.

Thanks,

I really like the Algo 8301's. They do require an external amp, but man are they flexible. And pretty cheap.

Thanks.  It looks like we're going with the Algo.  8180 and 8189.  I'll test here in my lab.
The one thing I'm concerned about is the two speakers will be installed on the opposite sides of a large room.
Because it will be using a multicast, I'm wondering if there will be an echo effect.

Ralph,

I do believe they have a delay feature built into them just for that purpose; at least on the 8301 that is.

Thanks,

TE

Anything Algo... We use them with our hosted product, several of the 8100 series (8180, 8186, 8188, 8189, etc). They are extremely reliable and easy to configure.

Another plus for the Algo units, they can act as a Multicast paging server for 6900 series sets, so it can be direct replacement for 5485 applications.

Really...?
I received the Algo units yesterday and set them up in my lab.  Very easy to work with.  I have the 8188 ceiling speaker as the multicast master and the 8180 as the slave unit.  Works well.

I need to ship it to the customer on Monday but now I want to test the multicast paging with a 6900 phone.  How do I set that up?

So if you've already set up your multicast master/server and the zone, just go into the Advanced Multicast settings in the Algo and copy the Multicast IP and port from the zone you want into the Mass Notification form in the MiVB. Assign the zone for the phones, and the multicast IP and port from the Algo. Then phones in the specified zone should pick up any multicast page broadcast on the selected IP/port.

Thanks lundah,
Please forgive my ignorance on this.  I haven't touched Mass Notification so I know absolutely nothing about it.
Is that a separate server?  It doesn't appear to be a form in the 3300 that I can see unless it's on later software than 9.0 SP3

I believe it was just introduced in 9.1. It's only a new feature.
