Mitel TA7102 install scripts
« on: June 30, 2017, 09:56:07 AM »
Trying to hook up a Mitel FXS box for analog stations and when I called Mitel they just directed me back to the knowledge based article. In the config guide (knowledge based 15-4940-00370-2) in the registration servers form apparently I am supposed to enter some config scripts that are referenced in Appendix A. There are about two hundred of these in the appendix...which ones am I supposed to use?, or are they even necessary?

Confused in TN, Jim

I've never used a script with these, pretty basic devices really.

And that is ONE "script", not 200, is basically a dump of the configuration that can be restored or placed on the TFTP/FTP server for the device to pull down and config itself automatically (with a little editing).

OK, good.

I was getting confused by the config PDF when it showed a script inserted in three places in the registration server field and the Appendix gave a huge amount of scripts to choose from.

I just got my hands on my first TA7102 today.
I've walked through the config guide.  It looks pretty straight forward but I can't get the thing to register.
It keeps saying "authentication failed."

In the config guide, page 9 it says this:
Quote
The User PIN is the SIP authentication password and the Number is the Directory Number (DN is
a telephone number). The Number and User PIN must match the information in the Mitel TA7102i
ATA settings. All other field names should be programmed according to the site requirements or
left at default.

I get where I put the pin number and DN in the 3300 but I can't figure out where to put the pin in the TA.
Anyone got a clue for me?

I just did one exactly as per the doco:
"Configure the MiVoice Business 7.x for use with Mitel TA7102i (Mediatrix 41XX Series) Analog Terminal Adapter"

I can't see where the ATA got the PIN from either. Maybe it uses the DN as PIN, not sure, but it worked. Sort of. It's "registered" at least.
But I won't hijack this thread for my current problems...

Yeah, I used the exten as the pin also.
Didn't work.  Wireshark says I'm getting a 403 Forbidden.

We test the 7104i with MX-ONE and Mitel 470. At least for our configuration, it was really just straight forward.

1. Point it to the SIP Server
2. Configure SIP extension/account (see a and b)
a. SIP>Authentication - We set authentication to "Username" then enter the username and password
b. SIP>Registration - Enter the Username in the specific FXS port, enable Registering

I hope this helps.

Bojo387,
Thank you.  That was exactly what I needed.  It's working now.

Ralph, did you figure out the logic here?

The 7102 manual says "...enter User Name, Friendly name, Enable the Register and the Messaging...". No mention of PIN. How does it know what PIN to send? Does it send the usermane as its PIN?

The docs suck.
You need to set up authentication under the SIP tab.
Use the dropdown to select "username" under Priority Criteria.
Then put in the extension number under "Username Criteria".
Disable Validate Realm.
Put the extension number under User Name and then the password must match what you put in the PBX.
Then under the registration tab select "Enable" from the drop down for both register and messaging.
Hopefully that helps.

I'll include a screen shot of what I did.
