MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / UC Advanced softphone with MBG
« on: January 29, 2015, 12:14:32 PM »
MiVoice Office 250 version: 6.0 SP2
MiCollab Version: 6.0.122
Has anyone here setup UC Advanced softphone (desktop client) using the MBG on a 5000?

Customer has decided they wanted to add a remote user using the UCA desktop client softphone, so I will be putting the MiCollab Server into server-gateway mode.  I will be making the changes on the weekend so I am trying to find out beforehand how to set it up.

On the 5000 I created a UC Advanced softphone extension - it appears to be a minet device because in System --> IP-Related Information --> Call Configurations --> (1) it appears in the "Phones" folder along with all the other minet deskphones not in the "SIP Phone Group" folder
Because of this I'm guessing I need to program it as a Minet device (add MAC address which should be A1:21:00:00:XX:XX) on the MBG.  Is this correct?

Add 9 to the dialing prefix under PBX node details

Without using any Nupoint mailbox licenses (yep, every mailbox on Nupoint requires a license) goto System - Devices and Feature Codes - SIP Peers - SIP Voice Mails - P9001 - Applications and create a SIP Call Routing Announcement extension and make it the recall destination of the hunt group.
Then in Nupoint, on the mailbox you want the message to go, add the new SIP CRA extension into the 'Alternate Extension' field

ISDN Switch Type?
I had one setup where the telco said they had the PRI set to DMS 100.  I had my Mitel 5000 set to DMS 100 and channels would just start locking up.  Changed the ISDN protocol on the 5000 to National ISDN-2 and everything worked fine.

I was wondering what it was because when I call tech support and enter a Mitel 5000 application record ID I get prompted "For Mitel phone manager press 1.  For Mitel 5000 press 2"
Just checked out a youtube video of it - looks pretty good.
I cannot find a download for it on the Mitel's website.
Is it available in North America? or is it a UK only product?

Not toll fraud from employees but from those who try to hack into vulnerable systems.
3300 - phone COR overrides trunk COR when calling out.  Forwarding external uses trunk COR, therefore a forwarded call to a long distance number is blocked but a direct call from a phone is not.
This is not a 3300 logic, but a PBX logic....
Knowing other phone system capabilites - what each of their weaknesses (ie 3300 does not have a built-in caller ID routing table) and strengths - helps in becoming a great programmer not just an OK one

Thanks dwayneg!  That's an ingenious work-around.  I will give it a go.
I would give you a star if I could  :)

**Still need all phones to be able to call long distance without entering any codes - just don't want them to be able to forward their phones to long distance numbers.  (there is remote access to the config assistant so I want to prevent any chance of toll fraud)

I can do this on the 3300.  Can it be done on the 5000?

Want to restrict phones from forwarding calls to a long distance/international numbers (to prevent toll fraud)
Still need them all to be able to call long distance without entering any codes
Still need them all to be able to forward to external local numbers
On the 3300 I just assigned the trunks a COR that could not call long distance / international
Tried putting the trunks in the 'Deny Toll Access' class of service - still able to forward calls to long distance.
Can the 5000 do this?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Changing default numbering
« on: May 26, 2014, 04:59:06 PM »
Our company is about to start installing Mitel 5000s (we currently install Mitel 3300s, 200s and Toshibas).  Most of our sites are less that 75 phones.  Our normal numbering scheme is to start extensions at 200, voice mail pilots 400 and phantom DNs in the 500s.   To keep things similar company wide I was thinking of keeping a similar numbering plan.  (Service technicians know that at most locations they can access voicemail by dialling 400).  I would keep all the default 300s feature codes the same, but change 4, 5, 6 and 7 to 334, 337, 338 and 339.

For all the seasoned 5000 techs, are there any drawbacks to making the above changes?

Change the option "Send my calls to:" from (My Ring Group) to 4000

It doesn't timeout on mine.... Mine is connected to a Mitel 3300 though, but I don't think that should matter

Upgrade to Android :)
