MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / record-a-call time/length limit?

Hi all,

We have a few users who like the record-a-call feature. We recently reduced our Exchange attachment limits down to 30mb and now we are finding some record-a-call recordings are not being forwarded as email attachments.

I get all undeliverable reports via email and regularly get messages saying 30:00 minutes of record-a-call was not delivered to the end user because the email is 37mb.

Is there a way to limit the record-a-call feature to only 20 or 25 minutes? I would prefer this over increasing our Exchange limit.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / block certain numbers - partly working

Hi,

One user in particular gets plagued with marketing calls and has started to record the incoming number each time. We have added these to our Mitel 5000 by using a call routing table to direct those known numbers to an application that simply times out and hangs up. All good numbers are captured by the "+" sign at the bottom of the list, and sent to another Call Routing Table.

This appears to be working as the number of calls the user is getting is greatly reduced. I have blocked around 8 numbers, all starting 0743724....

I added a new number to the block CRT last week and now the user just rang me and said she had a call from the exact same number. I checked her Xarios Phone Manger log to confirm. It is definitely the same number. I checked the block is working by adding my own mobile number to this list and dialling in, which hangs up immediately.

Have I missed something? Is there a better way to block numbers?

Hi,

Our receptionist uses a mix Mitel Attendant Console and a 5330 IP phone. Occasionally she will get this weird problem. The steps are

1. Caller dials reception number
2. Receptionist answers call and says hello etc
3. Caller asks to be transferred to colleague
4. Receptionist transfers call to colleague, but colleague not picking up (normally she waits for 2 rings)
5. Receptionist then wants to speak to caller to ask whether they want to leave a voicemail for colleague, a message with her, or call back another time
6. However, she cannot recall/unhold the caller, who then gets stuck in the phone system. She tries repeatedly hitting 'Call Key 1' on her 5330 and in Mitel AC, but the call will not be released to her.
7. Her only way out is to hang up on the caller.

When this happens, the display of the current call in Mitel AC changes and I'm wondering if anyone has seen this before? It can only be described as the green circle which normally appears next to the active call getting shrunk smaller. Strange! Attached are two screen shots, showing a normal call and the stuck call (notice the green circle is smaller and most of the menu buttons are greyed out)

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Mitel UCA app for iPhone/iPad

Hi all,

I noticed this app in the app store and think it could be useful for our users. How would we go about getting our Mitel 5000 set up for this? Is it simply a case of forwarding some ports? (I suspect not). We currently use Xarios Phone Manager on users desktops.

Separately, I have question about softphones. Which softphones are compatible with the Mitel 5000? An engineer has given me Inter-tel 8602, but despite installing without issue, it won't run on Windows 8.1 (get a runtime error immediately after launching). We have some Mac's out in the field, so would be interested in softphones that work on Mac too.

What are others using? And what additional licenses are required, if at all?

Hi,

Is it possible to disable the feature where someone can dial in from outside and listen to their voicemails? is this configurable on a per-user or system-wide basis?

Also, a phone engineer once told me some systems allow people to dial out again from their voicemail. This used to be a scam where the voicemail would get hacked and the hacker would dial out to a premium rate number. Is this possible with the 5000?

Hi All,

If a call gets through to a mailbox, but the caller doesn't say anything they hear a recorded message saying "please speak louder. To append this recording press <whatever>, to cancel and rerecord this recording press <whatever>, to send this message now press #". If they do nothing the message gets sent.

How/where can this be disabled?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / two short rings then auto answers

Hi,

This might be related to all the settings I have been messing around whilst troubleshooting this issue http://mitelforums.com/forum/index.php/topic,4885.0.html

But now whenever someone calls my 5320 phone it emits two short rings then auto answers (connects the caller). This only happens to IC calls, not external calls. Also it doesn't happen when our switchboard calls me, but does when any other internal person calls.

I have checked the flags on my extension, compared to others and all looks identical. I have removed my name from Users (where DEE settings were stored). I even removed my forwarding paths and reset my 5320 phone (cleared the MAC address from IP Settings).

Can someone point me in the right direction?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / called ID on dynamic extension?

Hi,

We have the Dynamic Extension feature available to all users, but few use it. The main gripe is not having the correct caller ID displayed on your mobile phone. It always shows the switchboard number and you have to pick up the call, listen to a system message, then press the * or # key to connect the call.

Is there a way to show the correct caller ID on the mobile phone? and any other tips to make this feature more slick?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / recommendations for wireless conf unit

Hi,

We have a new board room being renovated and would like a wireless phone/conf phone to use on the boardroom table. I envisage the unit spending most of its time on a side table, sitting on some sort of base station charging it's battery. The base would be connected via IP to our Mitel 5000. The phone/unit itself would be wireless back to the base with an inbuilt battery.

I found the Polycom Soundstation2W, but the base appears to be analogue only. Would much prefer an IP based solution.

Can anyone recommend anything??

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / porting analogue number to ISDN

Hi,

When our 5000 was installed, we already had our number range (for example 0207 444 1001 to 1099) and a few random numbers all coming in on the ISDN line. Then the engineer set up forwarding of some numbers to an inbound fax server. For example

0207 444 1002 goes to fax
0207 444 1006 goes to fax

I'm no engineer, but it looks like the setup is this...

CLI shows 0207 444 1002  "ring-in destination" being a phantom extension called 1002. This extension has a forwarding path set to a hunt group. The hunt group members are three 'single line'  extension numbers, the address column shows a unique address such as 01:11:04:01 (presume this is some sort of hardware address).

I want to sweep up the remaining analogue lines we have, which are connected to fax machines and throw these down the ISDN line too. Our comms company is making those arrangements but I need to setup the mitel side of it.

Questions
1. Do I need to program these new extensions somewhere in the phone system?
2. I can add a new CLI entry, but will need to point this to a new phantom extension. When I create a new phantom extension I only see the list of numbers we already have. Hence my question above.

Hope all this makes sense?? It confuses me!

Hi,

I have setup numerous headsets for users with 5320 IP phones. One user asked if they can switch to using the loudspeaker/handsfree speaker during a call. They would normally press the 'speaker' button but this cuts off the call.

Is there a feature code for loudspeaker?

This problem, I believe, is only affecting one person. When they are on a call and hang up, their phone immediately dials another call, usually an internal extension. This is intermittent and not happening every time.

I have looked through the programming and cannot find anything unusual when comparing to other users. Any ideas?

Hi,

[apologies in advance if this is the wrong forum for this question - happy to have it moved]

I noticed most items on the edocs.mitel.com website require an account, so I clicked through to create an account and got an email from the EMEA administrator saying there is a fee to join the group (£65 until 31st March 2014)

I just want to ask whether others are signed up to this? I'm mostly interested in reviewing technical documents and getting access to software downloads than going to user group conferences and networking events.

Hi,

Another question. Our Mitel 5000 is, I believe, running software 5.0

Our maintenance company are slow to upgrade and not exactly proactive. I'm wondering what the latest version is, what improvements have been made and are there many benefits to upgrading? Or for the sake of stability, should we stay where we are?

My second question regards the programming software, which the engineer installed on my PC. I don't have the source files to re install and I have moved to another PC. Is there somewhere I can download the programming? (I don't have a login to edocs.mitel.com) Or can someone share the programming exe via Dropbox or such like?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / DND - Select DND Msg

DND is a feature we are just starting to use (previously used to forward calls to vm or others).

I found the feature code for this, 372, but then it asks for a message "select dnd msg (01-20)". This is cumbersome, clunky and slow to bother putting in additional details. It would be nice just to quickly set DND without having to specify a custom message.

I appreciate if I press nothing, it will timeout and just show the standard 'do not disturb' message, but it's confusing to users.

Is there a simple on/off toggle for DND?
