5220 IP Phone does not boot
« on: September 10, 2010, 05:08:31 PM »
I have recently purchased a refurb. 5220 IP Phone and I can not get it to work with the 3300 ICP (release 8).  I am using it to replace a phone and use the same extension.  I have done everyithing I can think of, or know of anyway, and the phone never works.  I have deleted the old phone/extension and added the new phone/extensionm with the correct MAC address and it never connects to the 3300.  It gets an IP from DHCP, then the phone stops at the "Boot" section.  I have never had a 5220 on this system and do not know if that may be a part of the issue and the system needs to be set to accept that model phone?  Any help would be appreciated.

Try defaulting the phone.   Boot it while holding the "9" key and "delete" present settings.

Sorry it took so long to get back, this location is not on my usual schedule.  I did delete the present settings under the LAN settings and got the same result.  I dont know if this makes a difference but it is trying to boot version 04.02.01.05 where as the rest of the phones here boot 02.02.02.02?

Thank you ralph for pointing me in the right direction.  After figuring out that you have to hold different keys to boot into different settings menus (which seems stupid to me, why not just have them all in one menu).  I held the "7" key to boot to the Teleworker settings menu and cleared those present setting out.  After that the phone was then able to contact the PBX (TFTP server), download and install the appropriate firmware and then connect to the system.

You can get to all of the options by holding down the volume buttons on boot up. Then you can scroll through everything.

You know I tried that and all the phone did was reboot every time, I never actually got  to a menu that way  :P  But with that aside, I am happy that I finally got that phone programed.  I was about to send it back for another one.
