Automatic Dial 8
« on: May 21, 2017, 10:15:19 PM »
Guys,

Is there a way to make the 3300 perform the same function as House Phone on a MiVO-250 to a automatically dial an 8 for Outgoing?

Almost every analog port on the Inter-Tel Axxess is setup this way and they have over 5 SLC-16s in the system.

Thanks,

TE

Hi TE,

Sadly, no.

The only way that I know of is to actually program ARS accordingly. i.e. without a prefix.

Depending on your region this may not work well.
I can't comment on anything other than Australian number plans.

I've never configured a phone to auto-dial on lifting the handset, but could you configure to auto-dial the number that gives you ring tone?

You can auto dial to an individual number but not direct to ARS.
There are some tricks you can pull if you have the right type of trunks. (Loop Start, E&M)
The trick is to auto dial to a special ARS route that absorbs all the digits.
For example:  Phone X auto dials to ARS digits dialed 99999.
ARS for 99999 hits route 9.
Route 9 absorbs 5 digits and sends out loop start trunk group 1.
You end up with CO dial tone.

Doesn't work with PRI or SIP

Guys,

Thank you for all of your suggestions, but we have a PRI and SIP along with an E&M T-1, but everything is moving to SIP within a couple of months so I will just have the customer set their equipment to perform the automatic dial 8.

Thanks,

TE

With an IP set you could label key 2 as "Outgoing Call" and have it CDE Speedcall "8" and then they could dial the rest of the number.

ZuluAlpha,

This would be for Analog devices so that wouldn't be an option.

Thanks,

If you don't have conflicts you could program ARS to handle 1+10 with no need to dial 8.

I think it best to either tell the user to add the digit, or program it into the machine. The only drawback if put in the machine would be networked faxing

Ralph,

That is a rather intriguing idea, but I am unsure by what conflicts you would be referring to. How you would know and how would you set it up?

JohnP,

I had the customer call their other vendors, such as Otis Elevator, to make the changes to their equipment as it was the only fix I had at the time and all seems to be working as expected now.

Thanks,

TE

By conflicts I mean does anything else in your system start with a 1?
If it does it still may not be a big deal since for example:
exten 1555 conflicts with 1-555-666-7777
In this case if you dialed the extension it will wait 2-5 seconds before it starts ringing.

Ralph,

No, none of the extension in the system start with a 1 so there would be no conflicts with 1+ dialing.

Thanks,

Then it's an easy test.
Create a route that doesn't absorb any digits then route 1+10 to it.

What about using the associated directory number form and make the analog set a hotline with the associated number 8

I wish it was this easy... doesn't work... ARS leading digits are not valid destinations for Assoc Dir Number hotline destination.
