What headsets are supported on 69XX phones.
« on: May 19, 2017, 11:53:22 AM »
I'm trying to find some type of Doc that shows what third party headsets work with the 69XX phones.
What USP headsets and what analog headsets.
Has anyone seen such a doc?

In general, has anyone had any experience connecting third party headsets?
If yes, what has been your experience with it?

Ralph

I tested Plantronics C310 and worked perfectly.

Ralph,

I just got done with my cutover of about 100 69xx series phones and the customer wanted to reuse their old analog headsets for all of them. What I ran into is that the phone doesn't always recognize the headset and some of the 6920's headset ports seemed to be defective, but in the end I was able to make all of them work without the amplifier.

When you plug a headset into the headset port you should see the headset symbol in the information bar at the top of the screen next to the Network icon; if you don't it probably won't work. Another thing I found out is that you can go into the settings by pressing the gear button and go to Audio scroll down one and it will give you some Headset options.

I hope that helps you out at least a little bit.

Thanks,

TE

Thanks TE,
I'll pass that along to my customer.
Since I work out of my home office and am almost never in the field I haven't had a chance to touch a 69XX yet.
My office ordered one for me yesterday with a dect headset so I'll at least be able to talk with some intelligence about it.

Something with EHS cable is good if wanting to answer via headset button click

So, any news....? What's your experience of the DECT headset on the 6900 series phone?

VinceWhirlwind,

We had a customer who purchased all 6940s with the attached headset and although it is a little bulky the audio is really nice, and the mic picks up really well without feedback.

The only complaint that some users had was with the size of it and that the over-the-ear piece didn't really works well so they used the over-the-head; the ladies didn't like that.

Thanks,

TE

Hmmm....so far, our users who have the integrated headset module on their 6930s are all complaining of random phone reboots and of having to reboot and re-pair the phone with the headset.
The users who have attached a Plantronics headset have not made any complaints.

VinceWhirlwind,

I am going out to that customer site today and I will ask if they have had any issues with the phones and headsets up to this point; they have been using them for a few months now. Unfortunately they don't have anything but 6940s so I can't check to see if the issue is on them or not.

Thanks,

TE

I've been using the 6940 with the attached Dect headset for a while now.
I've had no issues with it.
Still miss my 6340, though.

VinceWhirlwind,

The only issues that they had early on was with users handsets being unpaired as they said, "out of the blue". As for the headsets they have no complaints as of yet other than the ones I have already stated. The ladies really don't like their hair being messed up by the over the head piece.

Thanks,

TE

Yes, that's what we're hearing, too.

Mitel have made available some updated handset firmware, so we are hoping to get that loaded up soon to see if it makes any difference.

Analog                   GN Netcom   2100 Series

This is an interesting list....I'm trying to get the Plantronics CS510, cousin to the mentioned CS540, with the 37818-11 cable and the APU-75 and neither works the way I expected with 6930 phones.

(I got the APU-75 from this ??german?? brochure: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiqg86w04_WAhWLzIMKHXMUA3QQFgg7MAM&url=http%3A%2F%2Fde.ucc.westcon.com%2Fdocuments%2F55924%2FPlantronics_Headsetguide_2017.pdf&usg=AFQjCNEB7ic4_DJD3VJf3JlFwGkOlinvMg)

The pressing the headsets buttons does not get a reaction from the phone, but pressing the ringing line on the phone gets the headset to pickup.

Or is this the way it should work and I'm looking for more interaction than there should be?
