5330 Phone - You have 1 Message (but where ?!)
« on: November 14, 2016, 11:58:41 AM »
Hi all,

Got a strange one here... I have the Mitel 250 System using Mitel 5320/5330 handsets over SIP....
1 user has a message on his phone that says "You have 1 Message"..
His phone is a Mitel 5330, with the cordless Bluetooth receiver....

Users dial 2501 to get into there VoiceMail and so on...
This user dials 2501, and it says you have no messages nor any saved messages...
I have direct dialled his phone, left a message, listened to playback and then deleted, but phone still shows "you have 1 message" and flashes the orange lamp....
I have rebooted the phone 3 times, but still nothing, same old message...

Any ideas what it could be, and how I get rid of it ?

StuartUK,
I meant to answer your question of why/how this happened. If the above ends up working for you I can only surmise that someone in the organization may have done this:

It could have been that the person dialing meant to dial an actual outside number (Forgetting to press 9 - or whatever your outgoing access code is) For example, the number they meant to dial is: 367-420-1234. Again forgetting to dial the outgoing access code. The system see is as:

1) 367 - Leave Message at other extension
2) 4201 - The extension number MWI (Message Waiting Indicator) to be left at.

Again this is hypothetical. But, I hope it is as easy as this and if it is, explains why you are seeing what you are seeing.

Thanks,
-Iron

If I had a dollar for every time this happened on one of my 3300 and SX2k I'd be a very wealthy man.

Leave the handset in the cradle when you press the message key; the display will show the source of the message. If someone lit the lamp by accident, press * to clear the lamp.

When we press the 'Mail envelope' button on the phones, it brings up the "Do Not Disturb" menu options (Select DND MSG # (01-20:  )
Think the Comms firm who set it up for us weren't very good! :(

Was hoping there was a feature command I could dial to get rid of the code, or change something on the main console (DB programming tool for the 250)

I just did this from someone elses phone to my phone:
(x) (Feature key) + 367  , then dialled my ext (220)...

It now says on my phone = You Have 1 Message !  :-X :-[
so as you guys said, that's how the message thing is appearing on the phones...

Big question now, how do I clear it from the phones!

Got it sorted now  :)
Cheers guys, from you saying about the message thing led me to the (x) 367 feature...
bit more reading, and found that (x) 365 *   clears the messages! :) :)
sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
Cheers guys!

That's odd. You can change it in database programming to be the Message key. Your phones would then function as described in the manuals.
