So... I had to get some help a couple fo weeks back because I had people using the vociemail system to call our guest rooms. Someone suggested a wonderful idea of using Interconnect Restrictions and Intercept Handling to prevent people from calling extensions.

Voicemails are on Interconnect 3
Admin are on Interconnect 2
Guest rooms are on Interconnect 1

Intercept handling set up as 3 is restricted from calling 1.

Now, when we attempt to use the System Speed Call from the Auto Attendant, it acts like it is going through... I get told I am being transferred to the Reservations dept, but instead the call gets shuffled to the Front Desk.

I am worried the Intercept handling is catching that call.

My voicemail Options are set to allow transfers to any number. There is a number restrict with a 9, but this has always been and the system worked before.

Test by taking a desk phone and giving it the same interco and intercept handling as the VM port.
Then dial from there.  You may get an idea of what's happening.

Test confirmed.

I changed my desk phone to Interconnect 3, and attempted dialing the speed call. I got instantly transferred to the front desk.

I am unsure why it would do that...

in looking... I found my trunks are marked with an Interconnect Number of 1, which is the restricted ...

I have changed it to 2, and attempted the test call again with no change.

Now I am wondering what else in the system uses an Interconnect number...

Odds are pretty good that the interconnect isn't right in some way.
Try dialing whatever the speed dial is sending you to so that you verify the speed dial is not doing it.
Then check your interco and be sure that 3 is not restricted from dialing 2 and 2 is not restricted from dialing 3.
Then, if your speed dial is calling a button or a HG, verify that you can call one of the phones the button appears on.

Just to verify, your interco should look like this:

  1 2 3
1 . . .
2 . . .
3 R. .

You only wanted to restrict 3 from dialing 1.

yeah in the list... 1 has no restrictions, 2 has no restrictions, 3 has restriction 1

I can't dial anything requiring 9 access it seems on the desk phone that I have put on Inter 3.

Is there any special about Interconnect 1? Is it used by something that might be being blocked?

Is the speed call an external number? If so, is the "Overrides Toll Control" option for that speed call set for "yes"? Is the Auto Attendant using SIP sets?

Yes, an external number
yes, to the overrides toll control

I do not know if the Auto is using SIP sets... how do I check for that?

Also... it seems that Interconnect 3, which is what we are using can't dial anything with a 9...

I just tried calling a regular external call and it got caught in the intercept group.

Interconnect would only get involved with blocking calls if the interconnect of the set was blocked from the interconnect of the trunk.

What system is acting as the AA? The embedded VM, or an external voice mail system? The reason I ask is if the VM ports are SIP, this is a known bug that is fixed in the software version that was just released last week. My workaround has been to just program a specific line in ARS Digits Dialed that allows the external number to be sent to a route that is not restricted for the AA ports.

I believe it was set up using the embedded VM. We do not have any other voicemail system other than the embedded.

Reading your first post, I bet the VM ports are restricted from accessing the trunks due to Interconnect violations. The default Interconnect assigned to both stations and trunks is 1. Change your Admin sets to use Interconnect 1, Guest rooms to 2, and change Interconnect 3 to be restricted from 2 but allowed to 1.

Ok... I shall try that... is there an easy way to change analogs ... there are 225 individual rooms, which are all analog.
