Place calls on behalf of someone else while showing their caller ID not of mine

My client wants me to place calls on behalf of them but I want it to show their caller ID not mine. I thought there was a way to put an appearance of their line on my phone and I press that key then dial the call. when I do this it still shows my caller id.

Spoke to soon!  I wonder if anyone can help:

Set this up this afternoon on one 'phone.  Works perfectly.  To keys, programmed to "Single Line" and each display a different caller ID when I dial out.

Then tried to do it on another 'phone.  Set up the key as a Single Line, gave it another Directory Number (as it wouldn't let me use one of the same ones as on the other 'phone).  Set up that Directory Number in Associated Directory Numbers using CPN substitution... but nothing.  When using that key to call out on the second phone, it displays the DDI set for that extension in Associated Directory Numbers, not the one for the button.

EVERYTHING is the same as the first phone - same handset type (5330), same Class of Service...

I must be missing something but can't think why it won't work.  Can anyone steer me in the right direction please?

I believe that if the button is programmed as a single line then it's going to use the DN of the prime line.

Try this:  Put the line on another phone and retest.
If it works then put it on a dummy phone.

Second bit... Sorry but what do you mean by a dummy 'phone?  Just another spare?  What's the difference between the first and second bits, if so?

A "Dummy Phone" is one that's assigned to one of the executives.

(Just kidding)

It's a phone that is programmed but not used anywhere.  We use that to program up the odd number for things like this.

FYI, a line will be single on the first it is put on. Thereafter it can be a multicall or keyline on the next.

So I've tried it on setting up the line key on another phone, and it works perfectly.

Tried setting up a Multicall key (using the same directory number which works perfectly on my phone) on the problem phone - and that doesn't work either.

I just cannot work out what it is about this one specific phone which is stopping this from working!
