Mitel Option 3 (Default Gateway) Issue
« on: July 28, 2016, 04:12:38 PM »
Gents,

I just programmed an Mivoice office, I changed the defeault ip address of the mivoice office from 192.168.200.201 to 192.168.1.201. In the Mitel option 3 (Default Gateway) i change this also to 192.168.1.1 .
I backed up the database, but every time when i reboot the mivoice i am getting Gateway error on the phones. I need to add the new ip address again in the Mitel option 3 then the phones will register again.
Can you guys help me out why it is not saving the new ip address in the Mitel option 3(Default Gateway) ?

Please advise.

Thanks in advanced,

Gimitel

Gimitel,

It gets its gateway information from the IP Settings so dont try to change it manually.

Thanks,

TE

Hi TE,

The phone will remain in an booth cyclus and when you see option125 afterwards i will get Gateway Error. Do i have to reset the phone and let it get the info from the IP Setting ?

Thanks

I was getting this on my systems randomly when having option 3 set as 'Mitel Automatic' I had to manually set the gateway for option 3 and the problem went away.

Although I don't think I have had the issue of it not saving properly after reboots.

Hi Sarond,

I have version 6.1.3 on a HX Controller.
I maually changed the gateway ip address to 192.168.1.1 .
I now how to make a backup on the Mivoice office. But is there a way that a can save the Database so  will not get this Gateway Error after reboot?

On the Mitel 3300 i have to do the dbms save so all changes will be saved correctly. Is there something like this for Mitel 5000/Mivoice Office ?

You can default the database by using the front LCD panel or via DB Programming.
With DB programming go to the Operations Menu (top menu bar) and then default database.

When you perform a backup it is supposed to automatically save to the compact flash.
You can also just save to the flash without doing a backup by going to the Menu, Operations>Backup Operation>Then just Save database to system

If you have SWA I would also upgrade to 6.2

Thanks Sarond,

Before Factory reset i will do the following tomorrow.
Do a backup tomorrow of the Mivoice Office and then do a reboot of the system.
If i still have this issue i was thinking of give the ip phone s static ip on lan.

Do you think it will help?

I have found the best is to use teleworker mode on the phone. (Hold down 7 while booting phone) Before Mitel 5000 had a built in DHCP Server this is the way  I installed.

It will use a standard DHCP Server (router/Windows DHPC etc...) to get IP and gateway info. You just put the address of the system in and it will use that for TFTP and Call Server.

Gimitel,

Well if you are really wanting to change option 3 manually then make sure that you change it from Mitel Automatic to IP Address or it will keep changing it back on you and causing the problem you are having.

I know this issue was resolved in a patch though, but I can't remember which one. If you can't upgrade to 6.2 due to software assurance then at least take them to the latest version of 6.1 which is 6.1 SP1 PR3 which should fix that problem for you.

Thanks,

TE

Hi TE,

I dont have much experience with the Mitel 5000. But i changed the Mitel Automatic to IP. I reboot the pbx and did not get the Gateway Error.

Thanks,

Gimitel :)

Gimitel,

No problem, my guess is that you didn't have anything programmed into the gateway under System > IP Settings > Gateway or it was different than what you had manual changed option 3 to.

Typically if you have the "Add Gateway" error then you just need to stop and restart the DHCP server, but if you have "Gateway Error" that means your either have nothing or a conflict in the Gateway option.

Thanks,

TE
