Ghost Calls / Analog Trunks Slow Picking Up
« on: June 27, 2016, 02:06:20 PM »
Hey guys,
I've got a strange issue with one of my 3300s. The site is reporting that they are getting ghost calls to their operator, I checked the logs and nothing looks unusual, I also made sure that on hook dialing was disabled in the COS for the VM ports. I didn't make any changes, but the next day they said that incoming calls were not picking up or were taking a long time for the auto attendant to pickup. The trunk attributes and COS appear right and the local phone company says everything tests right on their end, any ideas?

Can the operator give you any information at all?
Such as what does the display say when it happens?
Are there any related SMDR records?

Ugh, after a week of other craziness I can get back to this issue.

The phone set says "CO Trunk" when ringing.

It looks like it's happening after certain calls end. The operator reported that 2 happened at 303 PM and 333 pm. Below are a couple examples :
+07/08 02:04P 01:00:21 T003  016 4499 4404 4499 4404 4499 4  4496X 4499
           xxxxxxxxxx

 07/08 03:32P 00:01:38 T003  016 4499 4404 4499              4495X 4499
           xxxxxxxxxx

4490 to 4499 are VM ports, I'm not the best at reading these but it looks like the calls are stuck in a loop in the Voicemail system, but I can't figure out how. The calling number is different every time, any thoughts or am I just reading this wrong?

Try this to see what happens:
Call the specific trunk.  Let what ever answers the call pick up.
Don't do anything from there.  If a person picks up have them hang up on you.
If the voice mail picks up just stay on the line.

I'm interested to know what happens when the call is hung up on or transferred or whatever.

So I called the trunk and let it ring. The first thing that picked up was the auto attendant, then I pushed nothing, then it rolled to the operator, the operator/receptionist didnt pick up, then it went to the receptionists mailbox which was full then it rolled to the auto attendant again and kept doing that over and over. The problem the normal receptionist is on maternity leave and she didnt tell the temp the password and site manager doesnt want to violate the privacy of the receptionist's mailbox. Ive increased the capacity of the mailbox as a stop gap. Any ideas how to eliminate the loop?

That one wins the prize.

Privacy?  I would think that there would be no expectation of privacy for that mailbox since it's the auto attendant mailbox.
Is anyone sure the company is not loosing business because of it?

Anyhow...
The next test is to have someone answer the trunk and then have them hang up on you.
You're looking to see if the line disconnects on your end.
If not then you probably just need to adjust the timers.
