Trouble with IE and 3300
« on: June 07, 2016, 03:43:14 PM »
I'm running IE 11 with MCD 6.0SP3.
It's in compatibility mode.

When I connect i get the cert error and then accept it.
I can log in and start programming.

Then, after a couple of minutes it suddenly gets a cert error and I can't call up any forms again.
I have to log out and then back in.

Multiple systems.  Not just one.
Is this happening to anyone else?

Ralph

For the interim solution using I.E 11, turn on Compatibility View

Steps to enable Compatibility view in I.E 11
In order for ESM to work properly in I.E 11 on Windows 7 or Windows 8, I.E 11 must be set to compatibility mode as follows:
Step 1: Launch I.E 10 and then press the ALT key (if you do not observe the Tools menu of I.E 11)

Step 2: On the Tools menu, click the Compatibility View Settings.(Figure 2)

Figure 2: The compatibility view option on I.E 11
Step 3: A pop-up window of the Compatibility View Settings is open. Here you enter the IP address(es) of 3300 ICP which you want to open in compatibility view, then press ADD button to add to the list. In this example, we add 10.37.35.47.
Figure 3: Compatibility View Settings window
Step 4: Clear I.E Cache.
After 3300 ICP upgrade, I.E cache should be clear manually prior to accessing new ESM forms.
To clear I.E cache,
•Open I.E
•Click the Tools button, and then click Internet options
•Click the General Tab, and then under Browsing History, click Delete
A pop-up window of Delete Browsing History is open.
Please make sure that the Preserve Favorites website data is unchecked.

This is how I fixed my issue.

IE is in compatibility mode.
The thing I didn't try was clearing the cache.
Thanks for the reminder.
I'll try that next.

Is this on networked systems and you're programming within the Users form?

I've seen this when it attempts to do application reach-through and fails on networks systems, and I try to edit an extension who's primary control is remote.

No.  I'm not trying to do a reach through.

Another note: When in IE and I go to maintenance commands and I click the command line I seem to always get an IE error.  I can still enter the command but it sure is annoying.

My work around so far is to load an XP machine up in a virtual box and use an old version of IE from there.
Same with Firefox.

These browser changes are sure messing things up.

Shortly after upgrading to IE 11 I downloaded and installed the certificates from the controllers and installed them in my user certificate store under trusted root certificates and the intermediate certificate authorities.   I had a number of problems in Windows 10 IE 11 prior to installing them, now I have no problems.

Hope this helps

I tried installing the certificate.
It didn't help with me.

Ralph- I have had so much better success with Firefox, using Fire IE plugin, these days.
I am about to give up with IE.

I actually remove IE10/11 and install IE8 and Java 1.6... It isn't difficult but does take a little work to keep, you need to tell Windows update to ignore IE9/10/11 updates.

I have been almost exclusively using Firefox, except for one of my MCD's which demands that you use IE 7 or lower.  Once I switched to Firefox I have zero issues.  And this is using Firefox with no plugins on Windows 10.  Yes I went to Windows 10 to help our Sysadmins flesh out issues before we roll it out enterprise wide.
