Intro/Basic training on 3300

I've been thinking about setting up a training session for new customers that want to do basic programming and maintenance.
It's been a long time since I trained newbies.

Here's my question: What should I train them to do?
Of course basic name changes and password changes - but what else would you recommend?
To give the customers their moneys worth I'd like to stretch it out to about  hours.

Suggestion?

I would advise to use subjects from the Mitel MCD system administration course. That way you can make a simplified course guide. (hope you do have the original)   :o

Actually, I don't think I ever took that class.   I started with ICP 3 (That's pre-MCD - a bazillion years ago) and somehow I think I was able to skip that class because of all the 2K experience I had at the time.   If I did go I certainly don't remember it.   :-[

I came up with a rough outline.  The more I look at it the more I want to add.  The hard part will be keeping it under 4 hours.

I started with 3100 when it first came out then graduated to 3300 when it was 5.1 cos they binned the 3100; was an iMAGINATION (and I started with that when it was a Philips long before Mitel bought out Telecom Science's commonly known as TSC) who bought it and improved on Philips). guy before that as they used that for the call processing software.....it seems so long ago.

I started in 1979 in the industry......with Post Office Telecommunications; that was fun actually.

I'd run them through a "cook book" of options where they learn how to translate half a dozen standard customer requirements into a Mitel solution for each.
Secretary/Manager pairs - how to get this working. Because DSS keys don't seem to make them happy.
Reception phones - non-hotdesk config? Or hotdesk users belonging to a ring group? How to divert during lunch break.
Hotdesk users v. meeting room phones
 
Also, maybe some of the basics which Mitel misses out on its MCD courses, which is to say - trunk config. Multiple GUI forms are involved and as the underlying config isn't visible it gets very confusing.

Hi Ralph - what I meant was, if I need to configure, for example, a VPN on a Juniper router, I look at the config on an existing router and I can see the various configuration items required to get it working.
With the GUI, I need to know what forms to click around in. I can't just view a working config and go, "a ha - that's how it works".
