Call Park
« on: May 04, 2016, 12:18:37 AM »
I want to setup Call Park.
(Users want to be able to park calls then wander off somewhere else and pick them up. Sounds reasonable.)

The Help file in the MCD is very informative, but characteristically, it doesn't describe a step-by-step process for setting this up.

The bit that confuses me is when it tells me to add a DN to the Call Park form.
There is no previous step telling me to setup a DN.
I tried a random DN that is configured on the system and it tells me it is an "invalid DN".
Clearly, this DN needs some characteristics, but the Help file doesn't explain what those are.
Does it need a special CoS? A special Call Re-Route setup?
...?

A normal user DN or a multi call can be used.

OK, so I just created a brand new (non-indial range) number and used that as the "Park" number.

I had to read the handset user guide in addition to the MCD help file before it clicked - (Correct me if I'm wrong)
To park the call you can:
key in "*51" then dial the "Park" number
OR
Configure a "Call Park" key on your handset, so you can press the "Call Park" handset key, then dial the "Park" number.
OR
When you configure the "Call Park" key, you also add the "Park" number as the destination number, so then all you have to do is press the key to park the call.

Try using a 'Group Park' key with the DN.

This is how I normally set it up.

We just created a fake extension to park them on. We programmed the park key to Line Type 'Park' and 827 as the destination, and the park retrieve button is CDE Speedcall *52827. All the receptionist has to do is note the 'park lane' number and page that, then the recipient hits 'park retrieve' and just types the 'lane number.'

Works well for us. We never know which phone will be used to retrieve the call, so nobody needs to know it's actually hanging on 827.

When you configure the "Call Park" key, you also add the "Park" number as the destination number, so then all you have to do is press the key to park the call.

the user sees
parked@5788 @02

I'm not interested in them seeing @5788. This confused my tester and is unnecessary information. Can it be suppressed.

Create a phantom extension, give it normal user CoS.
Edit CoS to allow Call Park
Add the phantom extension to the Call Park form as "No Paging"
Give the user 2 keys on their phone:
Call Park
Call Park Retrieve

I found the position (in the screen)
But i m not able to park the call directly. I have to hit transfer then *51 + phantom extension.

Do u know if it possible to park a call without transfer?

There is a phone key type called "Call Park", but if you don't use that, you can put a speed call on the phone key which has the *51xxxx on it
