Mitel Unified Communicator Express and network connection
« on: April 27, 2016, 12:13:05 PM »
I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can help with...
We have a system with a 3300 controller and a Mitel Application server, installed a few years ago.
Our desktop clients are running Mitel Unified Communicator Express version 6.0.56.0
I am trying to move my personal desktop network connection up to a gigabit connection, so I now have a gigabit POE switch at my desk.
So my connection at my desktop currently goes from the server room to a gigabit POE switch, from there to the phone, and from the phone to the computer.
What I wanted to do was to connect only the 5312 IP to the switch and connect the computer to the switch (so I could use gigabit) as well, but I seem to lose the Unified Communicator Express connection then?
Does the phone have to be directly connected to the computer in order for the Unified Communicator Express to work?
Also - where can one get the latest version of Unified Communicator Express?

No, it does not... My quick guess here is this is VLAN related and your POE switch is not passing them through properly. UCE communicates directly to the system, not to the MAS server, so you must be able to access the Voice VLAN from your PC. Is your phone working if you plug it into the switch at your desk?

Unified Communicator Express was discontinued May 31st, 2015.

Thanks - I will check that out. It seemed rather strange.

Is there a replacement/upgrade for UCE that would work with our system, or did they drop it altogether?

Mitel dropped it altogether... the "replacement" is MiCollab's basic client, it is a server based platform.
