Bria and the 5000
« on: March 25, 2016, 02:42:20 PM »
Years ago we used the Bria client with the 5000 with zero issues.

Today the CEO wanted to use his new S7 with the client, but I've had zero luck in getting it to work

Does anyone know if something has changed with the new Bria client and the newer versions of the 5000?  (We're on 6.1_PR1)

Cholzhauer,

There are a lot of sip issues with that version you have. Go to at least version 6.1 SP1.

Thanks,

TE

Not really sure what your issues are... we use Bria (and X-Lite) with the 3300 and 5000 all the time with zero issues.

Can you give us a little more info about your setup?

TE, that's a good idea.  I've asked my vendor to alert me when new versions are released, but they always seem to forget.

Ace, what would you like to know?

What is the problem (won't register, no audio, etc)? What is your setup... are these only for local use? Are they remote? If remote, how are you doing your remote access, via MBG or port forwarding? Stuff like that...

I can tell if these are remote and you are not using a MBG, the router is likely at fault... we often fight with these left and right, especially SonicWalls and other "SIP aware" routers, when I think the router might be the issue I grab a trusty Asus RT-N66U (my go to sub $200 router), pop it on a public IP, and port forward 5060 and it always works

Gotcha.  It won't register...I either get a forbidden or it just times out.  (I've verified connectivity from the VLAN to the phone system)

It's internal only over wifi

Try loading Xlite on a PC on the same VLAN and use the same credentials and try to register and place a call.

We have a copy of Bria for the computer that works OK on the same VLAN.

However, it doesn't work as me...it works as another user who already had it setup.

We tried setting up an Ascom wireless phone this morning and ran into issues with authentication; it would work when no auth was used, but wouldn't work when auth was used. I haven't tried that with the Bria client, but that's my next step.

I just finished the upgrade on the phone systems; tomorrow I'll try again.

I installed xlite on the same VLAN and while I'm able to connect to my account, it's behaving very odd.  If I call my desk phone, it instead dumps the call into our sales hunt group.  Actually, any number I call, external or internal, I get the sales hunt group.

I am not sure what to say... that is bizarre.

I would create a new SIP extension and set the password and outbound extension (same as other extensions, probably 92000 or 92001), using a new SIP Peer Group (don't change anything except number of calls to 2, and a new IP Call Configuration changing DTMF to RFC8233, audio frames per packet to 2 and  minimum playback time to 20. Register Xlite to it and see if it exhibits the same behavior, if so, i think it is time to contact Mitel.

it sure seems like a 5000 issue...I have a bunch of new Ascom phones to install and ran into the same basic problem.  If I don't use authentication, everything works.  If I use authentication, nothing works.

Sigh
