FXS Gateway
« on: March 08, 2016, 04:38:57 PM »
Mitel Guru's,

What is a good product that works reliably for multiple FXS devices on the Mitel 5000?

I have a site that was sold an MP-112 that we can't get to work on the Mitel 5000. I need to find a solution that will allow us to install FXS devices on it that is "easy" to install and more importantly reliable. Also if you have the instructions on how to set it up with the 5000 that would be great as well.

Thanks,

TE

Grandstream GXW Series... they work well and can get up to 32 ports in a single box, basically everything default on the 5000 except 2 concurrent call sessions in the profile, and in the GXW just assign the IP address of the 5000 and login/password for each port, although sometimes you have to tweak the dial plan a little bit. Doesn't get much simpler, we use them on the 5000 and 3300.

Acejavelin,

They look nice, but do you know the level of interoperability with the 5000?

Basic Call           Receiving calls only
DTMF Signal   Sending DTMF after call setup (i.e. mailbox password)
Call Hold           Putting a call on hold
Call Transfer   Transferring a call to another destination
Call Forward   Forwarding a call to another destination
Conference   Conferencing multiple calls together
Redial      Last Number Redial
Call Park           Parking a call on the system for retrieval
MWI              Message Waiting Indication
T.38 Fax           Fax Messages
G.711 Fax           Fax Messages
Video              Video Capabilities
Ring Group        Multiple sets ringing when one number dialed
Resiliency          Device able to handle failing

Basically are any of the features left out when using it?

Thanks,

TE

I can tell you basic functionality, DTMF, Call Hold, Transfer, Forward, Conference, and G711 Fax work, fax is a tad spotty sometimes but if you have pretty solid telco it's reliable for most applications... Call Park and  resiliency with the 3300 works great but I don't those features work since the 5000 doesn't support them, but knowing how it works in the SIP box, if you used the same credentials in two systems it should fail over if the main controller failed.

I can't really speak to most of the other features, never used them... We typically use them with the 3300, have 50-60 units deployed, mostly the 24-port boxes, but we have a handful on the 5000 and they are just simple.
