User Web Interface and Alternate Keymap Programming

Client is using both standard and alternate keymaps on 8528 phones, wanted to allow using web interface to program keys on both maps.  Found that if I shift to alternate map before logging in I can program that map.

Hmm... I've never even thought about this, I don't have a single system using the alternate keymap, well, not on purpose anyway.

You get 2 usable keymaps on 5320, 5312, 5324, 8528, 8568...and an incredible SIX keymaps on 5330, 5340, 5360!

I have several, it allows the 5320 to have a second page of buttons. I program the top key as the switch feature (renamed next page).

The Webb portal shows you which ever key map is currently active. You can switch the active key map on your phone and hit refresh on the Web portal and it will refresh to the active kepmap.

Not quite so useful with paper labels.

I've used an alternate keymap on 5320/5330 phones with Call keys that show the individual lines, for easy access to the lines for troubleshooting. User complains about line problems, they can switch keymaps to see which line they're on.

Sorry to rehash an old subject but we are setting up a system in this manner to gain extra buttons on a 5320e.

Is there a way to suppress the display so it doesn't show the "switching key map" message when the Alternate Key Map button is pressed?

Yes. Change the label on the feature code from "Switch Keymap" to "Next Page"  and program the key onto one of the top three non-lighted buttons.

That way there is no light to indicate whether the user is on the primary or alternate keymap.

I think he is referring to the transient notification display that shows for a few seconds telling you your switching keymaps.

I don't think anyone has every asked me that before, but the only thing I could think of off the cuff would be turning off All Transient Displays, but that would remove ALL of them. That means the Transferring To etc... messages would no longer show up on the phone with this turned off.

We added the phones to a Alternate Transient Display timer, and then lowered the timer to the minimum (.1 sec)

This seemed to suppress the "Key Map" message for the most part.
