Configure DID Numbers
« on: November 12, 2015, 06:29:36 PM »
Hi,

I have been looking on where do I change on how many numbers mitel will take from the DID to be programmed on a phone. Lets say that I have 123-4567 and I just want to take the last 3 digits (567) where do I configure that? I had been checking and cant figure it out. Thanks in advance!

Trunks will be programmed against Trunk Service number which relates to the Trunk Attributes form (makes sense right  :o)
In that Trunk Attribute there is a parameter called 'Dial-In Trunks Incoming Digit Modification - Absorb' this is how many digits a stripped from the carrier.
So assuming the carrier is sending the full digits in your example your you would absorb 4 to be left with 3 digits to deal with.

I was looking in the right place then, Thanks! I just need to figure out then on why our extension is no where near the same as our DID. I'll contact our PRI vendor to confirm our list of numbers. Probably we have a bad inventory list of DID. Thanks again!

Or your DID is done by system speed calls or on later software in the DID form....

I was looking at the system speed call before but it wasn't there that's why I got confused on where are we getting the extensions with DID. Thats when i started looking on how many digits our mitel was set to accept.

Go to maintenance commands and try LOCATE NUMBER xxx to try and figure out what the number is.

I tried that and this is all it shows up. The DID is ending in 8959 but the extension on his phone is 6250.
For 8959 it shows "The number is not in use."
For 6250 it shows "The number refers to a 5212dm"

I run a CCS Trace and I called the DID number and this are the two that I can see related to the call. can anyone interpret this for me. Thanks!

Look in Call Routing -> DID Digit Translation (it's right under Call Rerouting Assignment) if your system is fairly recent, you can also see this in the Trunk Attributes form under DID Service, if it is set to Yes, it is using the DID Digit Translation table and not speed dial.

Our Mitel is on release level 7.0 PR1 on mitel 3300

I dont see the DID Digit Translation  on Call Rerouting but I was able to see it the Trunk Attributes on "Trunks -> Trunk Attributes" and there is no DID Digit Translation. One thing that also confuses me is that "Dial In Trunks Incoming Digit Modification - Absorb" is set to two and I confirmed that our did list is correct XXX-XXX-8959. Thanks! I highly appreciate all the help.

Ok called a support and here is how it is explained

on the CCS Trace, 11:50:14 RI1 DPN 14 SSRM_C  *50*1234564140#8959

This line shows me with my number 1234564140 dialing out to the did XXX-XXX-8959 but from that line it only show 8959 that means that is how many digit our DID provider is sending through to our PRI.

With "Dial In Trunks Incoming Digit Modification - Absorb = 2" it will discard the first two numbers and the insert would also be important.
on "Dial In Trunks Incoming Digit Modification - Insert = 63" the number now will end up as "6359"

We still need to find out how it goes to 6250, I run the command "LOCATE NUMBER 6359" and it shows that "The number refers to a System Speedcall"

Yes thats what ended up happening is that 8959 got converted to 6359 and is a system speed call to 6250.
