RAD Stopped playing
« on: August 07, 2015, 03:09:02 PM »
Im not too familiar with RAD but for some reason one of the RAD just suddenly stopped playing. I tried the other RAD and they are working I tried to follow how they are interconnect and read all I need to read but I dont see why its doing it. I even ftp to the server and found the file that plays on the RAD and confirmed that is the right one. Can  you help me point to the right direction.

Odds are pretty good that the RAD is in DND.
If you dial it directly do you get dialtone back?

You can do a locate feature on the extension in maintenance and it will show you if it's in DND.

To clear it you need to use the remote DND cancel feature code from your phone.

we have only range of numbers for DID and its on the range 4xxx and the extension we are having trouble with is not part of the range -7852. I checked the DID form and its is currently off for both hunt group number and the member number, about ESM not too sure what that is.

I did the locate feature extension 7852 (for the hunt group) and got this
The number referes to a Hunt Group
Pilot Number: 7852
Active Features:

I also did the locate feature extension 5002 (extension that is part of the hunt group)
VM Port: 712
Circuit location: 1 4 27 2 1
Extension: 5002
Active Features : Do Not Disturb
Service Level: Full

I was trying to find the 5002 but couldnt figure out how that voicemail was configured. When i dial 5002 and 7852 it just give me a dial tone, doesnt play the message. I checked call rerouting and nothing is in place either.

Clear the DND on port 5002 and then dial it again.

I noticed that too and I have been trying to do that but when I try to do the Do Not Disturb - Cancel Remote I am getting not allowed. Trying to figure out that now. Any Idea.

Ok, Fixed. I was able to find how to enable my phone for Remote Do not disturb. I just need to change it on my class of service.

Keep this in mind:
A RAD will put itself into DND if the answering device stops answering or if the message is longer that the RAD message timer in it's COS.
If it happens again, check the timers in it's COS to be sure that they're longer than the actual message.
I usually max them out.

When you max the timers what are you maxing, expected off hook and message length timers? What is he purpose of these timers if the RAD still loops when the timers don't reflect the actual message duration?

I always max out the expected off hook timer.  If the RAD doesn't hang up before that then it will go DND.

I've used the message length timer when I needed to use something other than the embedded VM or an announcement device designed for such a thing.   For example, I once used it to allow a NuPoint port  to answer with a mailbox greeting and needed to edit out the stuff after the greeting.

So max out expected off hook and leave message length timer at default or set this as per the message length? I'm assuming that after the duration of the message the user will get moh and not dead air?

If I remember correctly the default timer for message length was only 10 seconds.
A lot of the messages I used were always seemed longer than that so I always maxed it out when I could.
If the timer expires before the message is complete the RAD will disconnect and the user will hear MOH or silence depending on what you need.
