Free DNs ?
« on: April 23, 2015, 10:56:17 AM »
3300 MXe 2-Clustered Rel 4.2 / 10.2.0.26_2  EMB-VM 6-SX200 10-ASU

Of the extensions allocated on this hospital system, I know what most of them are. 3000s patient rooms, 6000s DIDs, 7000s hunt groups.

But if I do LOCATE ALL FREE DN 5000 TO 5999, I get:

LOCATE: Warning! file *.LOCATE.FREE_DN will  be overwritten.
5500 -  5599
The free DNs within the given range can be found in *.LOCATE.FREE_DN.

What happened to 5000 > 5499 and 5600 > 5999 ?

If I do STATE EXTENSION 5234 (or any Not Free extension)  I get:  Locate: Invalid or nonexistent extension number or id number.   So the extension is not in use ?

I'm confused ?

Thanks for any input for me to look at.

Depending on the programming they might be used elsewhere in the system. Instead of 'State Extension', do 'Locate Number' instead and it will hopefully provide more information.

Does the Command "Locate Number" perform the same as "Locate Extension"?

I know alot of times, I go into the Maintenance and Diagnostics-->Maintenance Commands and then in the upper field i will type "locate Extension" or "Locate feature extension". The latter shows more options of said extension.
These commands will show if they are Hunt group extension numbers or if they are built elsewhere. I hope that this helps a little bit ?

Try this maintenance command:

DGT Trace 5499

Thank you august.

DGT Trace: helped me track down a hunt group 55, which had no members. So I deleted that. Also it showed me an ARS I just set up for the system I was linking to using #5. I also removed this temporarily and my Locate All Free DN verified for me that all the 1000 numbers in the range are not in use. Perfect.

FYI,  Locate number shows:  The Number is not in use.
Both State Extension & Locate Extension show: Invalid or nonexistent extension number or id number

Be carefull when you delete an hunt group with no member, as they could be use for a call reroute.

Normally if they are in the Call Reoute forms it will warn you and you can't delete it.
Although the HG may be call rerouted for some reason, because you have deleted it you won't know.

Regarding searching for free dn's, if you have a 2 digit DN it will not show when searching longer digits as you saw.
e.g. if there is a FAC or any DN of 55 it will not show anything that is longer as it will be considered in use. 55, 55x, 55xxx, 55xxxx etc...
