pickup group member not ringing
« on: March 05, 2015, 06:18:07 PM »
as title says, I've got an existing pickup group and I've added an extension to it, however the new extensions aren't ringing whereas the old ones are. What have I missed?
ICP 3300 with 5320 IP phones.

Pick up groups are not for setting up ringing.  They're for answering calls that are ringing on the phone of someone else.

Can you clarify what you actually did?  (what form did you add them in?)

yeah I understand that, so what happens currently is reception forward calls to one number, and several other staff phones all ring simultaneously and they have the ability to answer that call. Adding extra staff to that pool doesn't seem to work.
I can see the staff are in the pickup group so assumed this is where i'd add the new additions.  I'm sure I'm missing something but I've been hunting through  menus all morning!

Edit: I was under users and devices-group programming-pickup groups, selected group, added member via their number

Nope.  Wrong spot.

1st find out what number the operator is transferring to.
Then go to maintenance commands and enter "loc num <num>".
That will tell you what it is.

I suspect it's a button on the phones.
You can edit the keys of one of the working phones, find out how the button is set up and then add the same into to the phones you want to ring.

Ok I found the ext that the operator is transferring to.
there's a bunch of DSS/Busy Lamps set up under the keys tab that refer to each of the group members. Added in the new extensions with the same settings, tested with no luck.

Wouldn't this be a classic use case for a ring group?  We have teams that are a ring group as well as a pickup group. I have some folks set up with dss buttons set to ring as well, so you can choose which way you'd like to do it.

well the DSS settings for the existing handsets are all on 'no ring', and the ring groups menu in the 3300 is empty, so I have mo idea where this setting is coming from, or how to track it down.

What's the answer to the above question?

the output just showed the model (5320) and that it's an IP phone, which is accurate. I don't have the output verbatim currently but loc num xxxx didn't yield much

So then I suspect that if you look at the keys of one of the working phones you will a button with that number on it.
Copy the params and simply add it to the phones you want to ring.
