Best Practices - Converting a Digital Phone to an IP Phone
« on: November 09, 2014, 11:29:50 AM »
I have a client that presently has all digital phones.  They are exploring upgrading them to IP and we have decided to start with a small pilot project of 6 phones.  Oddly this is something we have never done for a client in the past as most of our clients go IP from day one.

What is the best way to change an digital phone to an IP phone while maintaining the same mailbox and user settings?

Hershel,

If you are converting them to 53xx series IP Phones it is pretty simple.

1. Download the database.
2. Right-click on the phone you want to change
3. Convert to 52xx/53xx
4. Fix Keymap if necessary
5. Save database
6. Upload the converted database back into the system.
7. Pin the IP Phone to the extension

Thanks,

TE

Remember that the system will reset when you upload the database, so after hours should be in your plan.

thanks guys!

I was sure there was a way to do this but it never occurred to me that it needed to be done offline.  Makes sense when I think about it.
