Delayed MWI
« on: September 08, 2014, 04:47:11 PM »
I have a site with stand alone NPM and MCD 6 that complains about delayed MWI on a fairly regular basis. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to look for?

First thing I would do would be to configure the refresh/check schedule of the MWI if it hasn't already been set. This can be done via the Nupoint console.

- If the Nupoint console is not displayed, type in the Linux command 'console' and press return.
- Press 's' for system maintenance.
- Press 'r' for Reconfiguration.
- Press 'c' for Suppress/Refresh MWI
- Press 'r' for MWI Refresh Schedule

You can now enter in the schedule details. recommend setting as following schedule to sync the MWI lights on mailboxes 000-9999 every day at 6am:

(T) Time = [06:00AM]
(D) Day = [7]
(F) First Mailbox = [000]
(L) Last Mailbox = [9999]
(M) MWI Type = [All]

- Press 'x' to Exit and save changes.
- Now keep pressing 'x' to exit each menu until you return to the Linux prompt.
Nupoint will now sync the MWI status of all mailboxes each morning to ensure they are in sync.
With this schedule setup the System Options 'SUPERSET Callback Message Cancel Timer' can be left at 24 Hrs (default)

I used to get this complaint a lot.  On a few different VM systems.
It usually came in as "My voice mail messages are delayed."

I never could see an actual delayed message.  It was always something to do with the light.
As a general course of action I pretty much always did as Martyn suggested.  Especially if the issue happens on a Monday.
In the more difficult situations I turned on traces so I could see login/logout and MWI events.
Then I was generally able to explain what happened.
