Phones lose connection
« on: August 11, 2014, 10:27:17 PM »
Installing a Mitel 5000 system phones come up using DHCP from the 5K they might last an hour or a day but then they lose connection to the 5k phones sometimes stay on but no dial tone or they might want to get pinned again but you can't like they are stuck in time. No errors on the 5K I can ping the 5K but database will not open any ideas it's driving me crazy customer is getting worried.

Neomatrix,

Wow, that is a new one to me. What have you tried to fix it? Usually changing out the Compact Flash works when you have unexplained problems. Have you plugged directly into the back of the 5000 and tried to get in that way?

Thanks,

TE

I have not tried that usually I just reboot the system this morning though the phones were saying searching for DHCP server I was able to connect to the database and had to restart the DHCP server and the phones came back up they have one week leases but I see alot of activity in the DHCP logs.

When you say change out compact flash are you saying to get a new one from Mitel?

NeoMatrix,

Yes, you when I say a new Compact Flash then that would mean from Mitel since they hold the Serial Number that the ARID would be tied to. Are you installing a Mitel 5000 without being certified?

Thanks,

TE

Here was Mitel's reply

There are a number of resets over the past couple of days due to
15:30 08-20 MAJOR RESET: Database Restore Complete
15:29 08-20 MAJOR RESET: Code Change

This can be caused by corruption in the database or because you have 6.0 SP1 PR3, which was an unstable release.

Backup the database to your PC and the voice processor information to a USB drive.

Default BOTH the database and backup database by going to (in DB Programming) Operations > Default Database.

Upgrade the system to 6.0 SP1 PR5, available on the FTP site.

So the system database and the backup database both get defaulted? Then you have to re-program from scratch? What is the point of defaulting the saved DB? I would think that you would want keep it as is for a reference while re-programming the system.

Also, If you had a system that upgraded through that version to the latest release, is it now corrupt?

After re-reading, I realized they meant to default compact flash backup, not the pc backup.

So stop laughing at me...  ;D
