Keeping the IP Phone switch alive
« on: November 10, 2009, 09:26:01 PM »
Often for our small business customers we hook the PC into the back of the phone for network access.  This is fine and works well.  The issue is if we get downtime on the phone system, the phones go into a reboot cycle every couple of minutes.  During this, the PC is momentarily disconnected from the network as the switch built into the phone cycles as well.

This happens on other IP phone systems as well.  I propose a design change - one that would allow the reboot of the phone without bouncing the integrated switch.  There of course would still need to be an option to do a "full reboot" in some way.
