System Backups (how to?)
« on: July 11, 2014, 12:25:02 PM »
I have a 5000 system with db programming boxes at each location.
When I open the System Administration & Diagnostics program, I find a backup option within the System Connection options (System Mgmt Tools drop down/Manage backups/Configure Backups).

From what I gathered, this is a full system backup, is that correct?

Also, from the help: "Scheduled Backups are not supported for Remote Configuration connections."  Does this mean I can not schedule a backup at a branch location?

What that means is if you have something set up for "How will you connect to the system when off-site", the Modem or Network connection of that local connection is not supported for the automatic backups. If all branches' systems are pingable locally from that PC, you should be fine.

When you say 'full system backup' depending on the DB version [5.1 and newer I believe] you have to save the VM portion to a USB plugged into the PBX. I am not sure what version of 6 changes this but at 6.0.9.61 I have the ability to save the VM to the computer or network share.

My backup options said save everything to network.

Sounds like you would be getting everything then, the older versions just give the option of 'Database to a PC' or 'Database to PC and voice data elsewhere'. If you wanted to confirm version after opening Mitel System Admin and Diag while your PBX is selected in the System connection section the Call processing version just above should say 6+.
