How to setup Unified Communication Advanced?
« on: June 02, 2014, 02:00:02 PM »
What/Where is the username and Password to use for the Unified Communication Advanced program?

I have the program installed and have figured out the server name, but can't find the UN and/or PW

The UCA points to the MAS server.  The user account in the UC section of the MAS determines the user name and password.

Finally got into this admin console  ;D

I have sent myself the welcome msg and am now setup.  I reset the voice mail pin but I am getting this error when trying to view voice mail info.

I think the voice mail feature works only if you have the NuPoint VM system.

From what I can tell we are licensed for visual voice mail.

Side note - I can log into the end-user web console, but not the desktop client.

(I'm thinking our setup tech didn't enable much)

I still can't access the desktop client.  Is there a setting to make this active?

I'm getting this error:
"An unknown error occurred while validating credentials."

Still researching this one...

Is there a windows Firewall port or .exe I need to have an exception for?
Can't turn off firewall, as it's locked by GPO

Are you doing this in or out of the office?  Just want to know if a corporate firewall comes into play.

Licensing can play a roll.  Make sure in the MAS that 1 - you have an account setup for yourself.  I guess you've confirmed that by using the web front end.

Depending on what version you are using, you may want to uninstall and reinstall so you check the URL you are using for pointing UCA to the MAS.  In my case it's simply:

mitel.domain.org

no http or / or anything like that.  simple.  If you give yourself a smartphone license for mobile uca, there's a test connection button that might be helpful.  You should test the mobile app.

It's been reinstalled several times and the FQDN has been verified.
We don't have the smartphone app installed or setup (to my knowledge)

The app is free and available on the iphone or android store.

You would need to assign yourself a license in the MAS.  I assume you are able to login as admin into the MAS?  whether you have a license for the mobile app, I'm not sure.  But even if you don't, you might still be able to install the app and test connectivity.  Try it.

Wouldn't I need outside access to my phone system?
I would assume that is not setup.

again.  I suggest you download the app to your phone and attempt the "test connection" button.  It might, or might not, give you information you need, but you might as well try.  Should take 60 seconds.
