My IC auto Answers- how to disable this?
« on: May 23, 2014, 12:52:52 PM »
When someone calls my extension (internal call), it comes in through IC.
It auto picks up (answers).  How do I turn this off?

I have Human-Answer-Supervision = On-Full Prompt
And the Flag for Automatic Answer IC = On (it is set like that for the whole company)

Do I have to power cycle my phone for settings to take place?

Are all of your phones set to ring intercom always no (or off)??

I know you've found the fault, just wondering!

Hello

Under flags on each phone.

Dan231,

There are 3 things that control whether or not a phone will answer hands-free.

1. Feature Handsfree On/Off - determines whether or not the phone has this capability turned on.
2. Feature Ring Intercom Always On/Off - determines whether or not the calling phone ignores the Handsfree feature.
3. Forwarding Intercom Calls - Any forwarding path that has Intercom Calls turned on will stop the Handsfree function from working when it's conditions are met.

Thanks,

TE

Hi Dan

Thanks for checking for me, I've learnt something new today then!

We always get customers turning the ring intercom always setting to No, this means whoever you ring it auto answers and comes through their speaker.

I didn't realise the Hands Free setting changed the way your phone behaved in this way.

Cheers.

Dan231 and NTEDave,

For some reason, by default, the Handsfree Flag is always set to Yes and the Ring Intercom Always flag is always set to No. This means by default that any IC calls between phones will immediately go handsfree.

We have solved the problem with our default database to always make sure that the Handsfree flag is set to No and the Ring Intercom Always flag is set to Yes for all phones which reduces the problem of ever getting a Handsfree call as you have security measures built in.

We also have an Internal Forwarding Path set to send IC calls to Voicemail for those phones that have a Mailbox; again which reduces the amount of these issues for sites that do not want Handsfree.

Thanks,

TE

You can also create a User for the extension and enable Dynamic Extension Express to disable Handsfree. Rather, having DEE enabled causes Handsfree to stop working so if all else fails, that's an option too...
