I have an extension with a Message Waiting 7200 key assigned.

I believe someone moved Ext 7200 in the past and it is no longer in this same department.

Also, Ext 7200 does not have Voicemail turned on.

But when I try to removed the key assignment, I get the "line in use" message.

I've checked repeatedly, the extensions have been idle when I try to remove it but no luck.

Any ideas ?   Thanks !

The only time I've ever seen that error when working with an MWI key is because there's an active message against the DN. Do a "locate feature extension" on the DN just to be sure.

Ok, did Locate feature and got

Active Features :                                                               
Message Waiting Lamp On                                                         
Dialed Message Waiting.

But since this has no VM enabled (3300 w/Embedded), Can I just use the clear MW Lamp code to resolve ?  I'll have to find this stupid phone, I don't know where it moved to exactly.

Set up a dummy mailbox with that extension, leave a message and then delete it, should be able to turn the light off that way. MWI on and off requests are handled just a little differently when coming from a VM hunt group member versus a regular phone, just doing the FAC from another set may not clear it.

Thank you very much for the help so far. But I'm at a loss on the dummy mailbox. (voicemail options noob to be honest)

If I make a message only mailbox with the same ext # as the phone out there. How can I access it without my call just going straight to the phone instead ?

You have a MWI key stuck in the ON position.
Turn on the mailbox for that extension of the MWI, so you can leave a message.
Leave a message, so you have something to delete.
Delete the message, the voicemail sends a MWI OFF to the phone system.
Verify that the feature MWI is off, then delete the MWI key.

All of this is done with the extension number assigned to the MWI, not the extension it is programmed on.
I assume you are deleting a 'secondary' MWI key.

Thanks for the replies.

Along with finding out the **# or # to leave a message directly to the voicemail, I was able to make this all happen.

Learned a lot today.
