Mitel 3300 message waiting indicator problem
« on: February 05, 2014, 07:16:22 PM »
Hello,

We are using embedded voice mail.
I have programmed a Message waiting indicator of 4116 at extension 4122. when pressing the MWI 4116 button, it is trying to log into mailbox 4122 instead of mailbox 4116.

Any idea?

This is likely due to 4122 being the prime line of the set from which you are dialing.  When you press the MWI you are reaching back to voicemail and the voicemail is going to see the number of the phone calling.  You could have several MWI buttons programmed for various mailboxes on the 4122 set, however, when those buttons are pressed, it's still 4122 that is dialing voicemail.

You could create user speed call buttons next to the MWIs that dial voicemail and insert the appropriate digits to check another subscriber mailbox.

In my experience, when you add a MWI button on a phone, when it's lit and you press it, it rings to the mbox of the MWI button.
But only when it's lit.

Try this: when the button is lit, pick up the handset to get dial tone from any other key than your prime line and then press the button.   How many times does it ring before VM answers?
If it rings ~4 times that would suggest to me that 4122 lit the light.

Disregard what I said!

Ralph, as usual, is correct.  I tested and confirmed this working in my environment anyway.

You should be able to Locate Feature Ext (prime of set in question) and see the MWI on the phone.

What release are you running? For some reason I remember this being a litle flaky at one point.
