PC to Phone Traffic
« on: January 29, 2014, 09:05:04 AM »
I have a pc that's plugged into the back of a phone and two weeks ago the pc wouldn't pull an IP address. After, going through normal t-shooting steps we replaced the phone and the next phone worked just fine. Now 2-3 weeks later same pc and won't pull an IP. If I take the phone out of the equation and plug just the pc into the wall jack it pulls a proper IP. The phone also works fine when by itself and when the pc is plugged into it. The switch port is the same as the rest of the working phones. I guess it's possible to have two bad phones with two bad nics but I doubt it.

Thanks in advance.

Not a nice thing to do to your fellow man but you can give the phone to another user and see what happens.
Or:
- set up wireshark on the PC
- the phone hardware configuration (Up-Down volume - Down volume - 234) lets you turn on mirroring
- renew the IP of the PC

Note: if you reset the phone the mirroring turns off.
