MOH Question

I"m looking into getting some MOH produced for our company. From what I read in the help files sounds like all I need is a .wav file. This vendor though said I need a USB 1200 to play the music. Does anyone have any thoughts on that? Currently, just using CD players hooked to the back. Not a great option.

The newer MCD versions support embedded MOH. You upload your wav file and select it as the MOH source.

If you're using a 3300 then I've no idea what your vendor is talking about regarding USB 1200.

Check the online help files on this.  There are some size limitations.

It's a WAV file but with a specific format.
It needs to be 8 bit mono uLaw or aLaw.

I'd caution you on using off the shelf CDs.   Unless your paying licensing fees or using royalty free music, you can incur a very hefty fine.

Agree with Ralph. Be very careful with using "store bought" CD's as MOH. The recording industry acutally has been known to go after companies for money if they find them using CD's for MOH and it is not cheap. Best to go purchase MOH from a company that produces that kind of product or search the www for royalty free music.

One other thing to keep in mind is that there is a maximum file size for a MOH that you load into the 3300.

We still use the Premier USB 1200 in some situations, even with the 3300... the reason is convenience and quality, it is super easy to change MOH in minutes by moving a flash drive from the unit, copying the file, then putting it back in, or having multiple files in rotation. Many customers don't like the fact they have to get the MP3 file from their vendor, convert it, then upload it, so they would rather get a digital MOH device that makes it easy. Plus the quality of the file based MOH in the 3300 kinda stinks, external MOH is much better in most cases.

So, to the OP, is it required... no. Might you want it anyway... maybe.

Ah!  Now that I know what a USB 1200 is, I like it.
I can see how that would make life a lot easier.
