No more room...
« on: November 07, 2013, 11:27:38 AM »
Hey everyone,

I've been trying to add a few new phones to our 3300 ICP.

Using the same method I've used in the past, we use static addresses for all of our phones out there. when I go to add the address it errors out and tells me there is "no more room". I thought it was a licensing issue, but it seems I have 10 unused licesnses right now.

Any information that would help rectify this situation would be helpful.

Thanks,
Joel

I'd have to ask how many IP's has the client given you to use.....sounds like not enough.

I am the client as well  ;D

I have that system subnetted on it's own vlan. It should have up to 255 addresses.

Right now I have 50 items as static addresses.

Put up a screen shot of your existing IP ranges so we can have a peek.

wasnt sure whether you meant in the mitel system or on our network in general.

here's what i can find in the mitel system reguarding subnets.

I am a novice user of this system, about all I know how to do is add phones.

I assume this is what you're talking about. I guess nothing is entered in there. but I'm not using DHCP, I would like to keep everything addressed using static addresses.

Where do you get the message from? Are you sure its the Mitel? If you are static addressing it really ought to be from the network rather than the mitel IMO.

What have you got set on the Vlan? cbecause thats where you get IP info from.

I assume this is what you're talking about. I guess nothing is entered in there. but I'm not using DHCP, I would like to keep everything addressed using static addresses.

The issue here is the form you're trying to enter the new static IP assignment is "DHCP Static IP assignment". This means the static IP assigned to the MAC of the device has to belong to a valid DHCP address range. Since you don't have any ranges defined, you're getting the error. The other working sets that have static IP's are probably set at the phone itself through the config menu.

The error message (as you can see in the first attachment) has to be coming from the Mitel system, or atleast the web page.

I am adding the phone in the same way I've always added them. for some reason i've gotten to this point and it's stopped allowing it. There is not a DHCP server active for this vlan it's a simple subnet as you can see in the attachments.

All the phones I have set up have been done through the web page.

Like I said earlier, I'm a Mitel novice. I'm more of a Network Administrator. The notes I'm following are quite old:

1. Login to 3300 (10.96.31.5) (Use Web Browser)
   a. Select System Administration Tool
   b. Update MAC address in System Configuration/Devices/IP Telephones/Single Line Sets/Single Line IP Set Configuration
   c. Update MAC address in System Configuration/IP Configuration/DHCP/DHCP Static IP

The best way I could see to add a phone would be to add a new entry in both of these places, and that has worked up until now.

I appreciate your guys help!

The reason the DHCP Static IP assignment form is giving you an error is because there is no DHCP address range defined to assign the static IP from! You don't need to put anything in that form, just assign the phone a static IP from the phone's configuration menu (hold down the "volume up" arrow when you plug the phone in).

If you must use static numbers assign them on the sets themselves like lundah is suggesting, the phone will boot and ask for a PIN. The PIN is found under the System Options as the set registration code, enter that followed by the extension you have built for the phone and press either the blue or red buttons depending on model (the phone will tell you).

Side note, you are running an old release and may consider upgrading.

This has to do with the fact that you can only enter an maximum of 50 static IP entry's on the DHCP Static IP menu.

It is not possible to increase it. If you still want to work with static IP's, then you would have to set this up on the phone side.
