Relocating a digtal phone
« on: September 06, 2013, 12:43:50 AM »
I am wondering what the best way to relocate a digital phone.

I have a user who is changing offices and would just like to plug his 8528 in to the new office and have the system realize he is now using a different port.  On other systems I have worked with (NEC and Nortel) we used auto set relocation to tell the system we were changing the port an extension was using.  Is there anything like this on the 5000?

If not what is the easiest way to change the port an existing extension is using?

Assuming I'm interpreting your question correctly, you are talking about what I call a "phone swap."  When someone moves to a new office, how do they take their number with them?  We have a digital system on a 5000, so this may help:

   · Identify the two extensions
   · Close Session DB Manager (required)
   · On an admin handset, press the infinity button and 9932
   · Option 2,4,2
   · Enter first Ext and #
   · Enter second Ext and #
Exit.
