UCA License
« on: August 21, 2013, 02:31:22 PM »
Hi All
We are setting up UCA for our users. I just downloaded the UCA from Mitel website now come to find out I need a registration key. If this is the case what a peice of Crap... We just paid for the license but Mitel never told us we have to pay for the registration key for the software also.

I have Notice under the UC server page there is a section that say client version and what the actual version is on the server but I have not seen where I can download the client from the server.
My question is can you download the UCA from the MAS server and if so where is it located because I have looked all over the server and I have not seen it.

Thanks

No need to be frustrated just yet.  You download the client from your MAS server itself.  Set yourself up as a user and then send yourself a welcome message via email.  The link should be there.  The relevant section of my welcome email looks like this:

Click the following link to download the Desktop Client software. Refer to the UC Advanced Quick Reference Guide for installation and log in instructions.
Link to download client software: https://your.domain.com/ucs/dl/UnifiedCommunicatorAdvanced.msi

you can then download the msi file and even edit it if you wish (see other threads on that).

The softphone is built into the desktop client. As for the Android app, you will need to download it from the app store.

Configuring the SoftPhone IMHO is not a walk in the park.  You may want to have your vendor show you how to do one or two.  Also, depending on how you purchased your licenses, not every UCA Client is also a Softphone.  I have 70 UCA licenses, but only 5 softphone licences.  It doesn't have anything to do with the software, it's just a licensing issue.  We're fine with it.

Can't agree, have setup the softphone on both iPhone and Android and it wasn't that difficult. Agree you need the licenses for the soft phone and you might not have the same number as the desktop softphone.

I believe softphone for these smartphones uses the respective devices native softphone, I agree setting up softphone on UCA is no walk in the park, different from on a mobile.

According to the Server the below should be on the server.

UC Advanced Desktop Client:      6.0.56.0
UC Advanced Mobile for Android:      5.1.34.20408
UC Advanced Mobile for BlackBerry:      5.1.30.0
UC Advanced Web Client:      6.0.26.21078

So there has to be a way to access the other files.

While yes, the server is telling you what version of the desktop client it currently has, for the Android and BlackBerry, its simply telling you what version it supports. You need to download those apps from their respected app stores.
