UCA won't connect with Windows 8.1
« on: July 20, 2013, 07:36:36 PM »
I am running the preview of Windows 8.1 and UCA 5.1.33.0. When I try to log into UCA, I get "An unknown error occurred when validating credentials". It happens both on the LAN and via Internet.

I have the correct server in there, as well as the correct username and password. No problem with UCA under Windows 7. I think it worked under Windows 8.

Anyone else testing Windows 8.1 running into this?

Are you running the UCA in Teleworker mode when on the LAN. I have not tested W8.1 because one it is not supported by Mitel and 2 it is not even at RTM yet so there is still the potential that 8.1 could change.

I am not using Teleworker at all. I realize it's a bit presumptuous to expect UCA to work with Windows 8.1, but I thought it'd be fine since it worked with Windows 8.

Not an incorrect assumption. But there have been a lot of changes to 8.1

Would test myself but only have 8.1 on an RT device.

The FQDN or IP you entered on install to point to the UC server is probably wrong.
The new authentication (now that certificates have been removed) is that the connection MUST be via FQDN and must match exactly the FQDN of the server

Worked under Windows 8 doesn't under 8.1. Not sure its that he put the wrong FQDN in.

Apologies if this is late to the matter at hand.

I have tested and confirmed that UCA (all functionality) works on Win 8.1. I have two HP Envy X2 machines running the very latest Windows 8.1 update and all functions of UCA Desktop Client work well. I had to muck around a bit with the camera for UCA SIP Softphone Video and Video within the MCA Client but that was due to an issue with HP Video streaming software and Mitel I believe. Manged to resolve it by installing the full version of YouCam Software.

The touch screen control also works pretty good for UCA/MCA.

Hi There,

I decided to create an account here on the off-chance this would help someone else...  I had the same "unknown error when validating credentials" as has been reported by other users. When checking the logs, it simply suggest that there is a time-out when trying to connect to the MAS server. - Testing the server for connectivity on port 443 revealed there was no such trouble.

Long story short, here's what fixed it for me:

I found that machines experiencing this problem were lacking a .NET update..... Once I'd Installed the .NET 4.5.1 update (which can be found http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=40773 ), the issue was resolved and users were able to sign in :)

All the best!
