Headset Question
« on: July 11, 2013, 12:20:19 PM »
Apart from it being faulty is there any programming steps needed to allow the headset to answer calls by pressing the button on the headset. The headset is the Mitel one that comes with the cordless module.

Yes.   That's the way it works.
But, in my experience, people want to add a "headset" button the phone.
That breaks the feature with the Mitel Headsets.

Did you pair the headset to the module?

As Ralph pointed out if there is a headset key programmed you will not be able to receive calls by the button on the headset.

I have done some more testing on this set up.

The user was a hot desk user, when he logged off his handset and it was just the base extn, the button on the headset next to the earpeice can be used to answer and clear down calls. That's the switch on the headset not the headset key on the handset that needs to be programmed up.

When the user logged in, the button doens't work for picking up calls and clearing down. So i know the headset and the module and the handset all work, it looks like a prob with the user account.

I have set him in the same class of service as a user I know that can use his headset to answer/clear down calls and removed him as a hot desk user, but still he can't use the button on the headset to answer/clear down calls.

I have cleared his extn using #*#* in case it was a user set feature code that had been put in, but for the life of me I can't work out why he cant use the button to pick up calls.

I blame the user!!!

Yep he want from a clorded headset to a cordless headset. he installed the mod and set it up himself. I only knew about it when he reported that he can answer call via the button on the headset. The headset key programmed on his extn has always been there.

Removed the headset key programmed under the user on one of his keys and it made no difference. Still could not answer a call from the button on the headset.

He may still have a profile however. Sorry but its about the only thing I know that will cause the issue and since it works as a standard user there must be something in that user profile somewhere...do a LOCATE FEATURE EXTENSION (his extension number) from maintenance commands and see if that reveals anything...because if the feature has been turned on clearing the key will NOT turn the feature off....you may have to re create the key, turn it off and then clear the key.

This is driving me mad, move the headset and mod to a new handset removed from a different site. I've set up a new user on my system and installed the mod and paired the headset. Everything else works, eg the mute, vol controls and the headset but the button to pickup/clear calls doesn't!!!! If you press it whenyou have dial tone in your ear you can hear it clicking like an old recall key but it still dosen't work.

If the jumper is faulty could then be the cause?

It's starting to sound like you either have a bad headset or mod.
