Dynamic Extension Express - One at a time, please!!
« on: March 14, 2013, 04:30:17 PM »
A couple of our phone users who have both a desk phone and a SIP client on their iPhone have commented that when they are on a call on their desk phone, their SIP client on their iPhone can ring with another call, instead of the caller receiving a busy tone.

This is annoying for both parties - the caller, because they don't realise that the person they called isn't ignoring them, they simply cannot take 2 calls at once.  And for the DEE user, because whilst they're trying to concentrate on the call they're on, their mobile phone is ringing in the background.

Is there a way of changing this behaviour so that the system gives a busy tone when they're on a call on either phone?

Thanks in advance,

Matty Brown

In the personal ring group, change the field of "One Busy All Busy" to yes.

Hi Ralph

That sounds promising, but where do I find "one busy, all busy"... or a personal ring group for that matter?

Thanks,

Matty

In an unusual situation, Ralph is incorrect, but only because he is thinking about the wrong system... on the 3300/MCD this would be correct. This is not possible in the 5000, you need to turn off DEE with a feature key or code, by default the toggle is 364 to turn on/off. If you open help and search for "Dynamic Extension", look for the topic "How Call Processing Routes Dynamic Extension Express Calls" and it explains the process. I have heard there are more enhancements to this coming in 6.0 later this year though.

The only other way around this is in User setup, disable "Enable DND Override" then if the Main Extension is in DND, the system will not hunt through the DEE list for that extension if you put the main phone into DND.

In the extn flags there is a return busy whilst on DID E&M calls flag, by default it is off.

This wouldn't return busy for desk to desk or hunt group calls though.

Doh!  I get tripped up between systems a lot.
And another case of Ace being generous.   ;)
