Nupoint mailbox notification
« on: March 01, 2013, 01:08:26 PM »
I'm totally new to the Nupoint.

Is there a way to notify multiple people that a new message exists in a mailbox that is not associated with any of their extensions.

What I'm trying to do is create a mailbox for an IT group helpdesk that people are put into if the ring group in not answered in a specific amount of time. I need to notify someone that a new message exists. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We normally handle that by putting a mwi key for the mailbox on everyone's phone that needs to be alerted to it.

If it must be on the phones, this is the way to do it... but most of the time we just use the Vmail to Email function and send it to a distribution list.

If the ring group is fowarding to Nupoint you wont be able to use MWI keys. You could use a broadcast mailbox to light lamps on other mailboxes.

One way to put MWI keys for hunt groups, create an analog phone.  Give it a COS with permanent DND on.  Make it the first member of the hunt group.  Put an MWI key of the analog line on the phone.

Or and this May be better:

Renumber the hunt group to something else.  If the hg is 5555 then renumber it to 6666.
Create a button on a phantom phone of 5555.  Forward it always to 6666.  Put a MWI key for 5555 on all the phones that need it.

FWIW, Nupoint can have alternate extensions...You could have a box to light the light being feed by multiple numbers.

IF the user has their own mailbox then there can be confusion regarding where the message is left ( personal vs IT help desk ). Would go with Ralph's original suggestion and program a MWI key for the IT help desk mailbox. That way they know what is causing the message.
